...There's a complete lack of styling, though, which isn't helping him any. The necklace and the bracelet are both pretty ok, but the shirt and the hair are just kind of there. Maybe the shirt is what all the kids are wearing these days, I suppose.

My take was that (at least right now) he is to modelling what Facebook Fauxtographers are to our trade. I discussed styling, clothing, etc beforehand, but apparently he didn't really "get it" and that's what he showed up with, so that's what we shot with.

It looks like you were going for moody and dramatic here, which you certainly hit.

The kid would have been helped out bit a touch of hair light and some visible catch light, though. You should be able to fit those in without ruining the look, I think.
