I know nothing about birds but this bird is very interesting.
I'm thinking it's a female cardinal but I have no idea.
Or a small flying penguin :)

thanks. I looked at Wikipedia now and it looks like a Bohemian waxwing like you said.
The tree that two are on are a berry tree .. which they apparently eat berries. :)

Its a Cedar Waxwing

As noted, a cedar waxwing. Got two of them this week eating the blossoms on a crabapple tree in the next yard. Not as good as your shots though!

It looks sooo soft!!! Neat captures!

Agree on the ID, Cedar Waxwing. But it also looks like you have some serious front focusing going on,. or your focus point hit the leafs in front ? If not you might want to look into doing a little focus fine tuning.

I'm having a hard time trying to figure out the Focus Point - after download from my d600.
I'm pretty sure I was in AF-S Single point using my 75-300 AF lens (really old push pull).

FWIW, it is cropped from this

Do you have the Nikon software ? If you open the photo's in there it will show you where the focus point hit

I've seen two of these flying around my neighborhood for a while but didn't get a change to photo them until they were in my berry tree again. they've been in/out of it for this past week. So I grabbed my camera and went outside in my socks lol Got a few shots then they flew away.

They do look soft and cuddle.

I just installed View NX2 a short time ago because I thought it had it (LR doesn't seem to have a plugin either :( )

But when I click on "Focus Point" it doesn't show a thing.
I also cannot go into edit because it says "unsupported file type" .. with RAW/NEF .. wth??

on my camera on my Playback display options I have them all selected
Focus Point
Highlights
RGB histogram
Shooting Data
Overview

and I see all those on the camera's LCD
