Not sure I nailed these photos or not I like it but still not feeling it . What do you think?

I played with #2... the original looks a little soft, and maybe a touch too yellow. (softness could be from compression artifacts) or possibly you were going for softness...

As an example... your original (as posted except for resize), and my edit with some sharpening, some added contrast, and -5 yellow, +1 red

Don't really care for her expression.. too detached to me at least, but a lovely model / location!

EDIT... I had originally posted crops.. but decided to post the full images instead!

I like the edited version Charlie made.

I think you picked a great location. I like how her hair contrasts from the white snow and dull background.

Edit: forgot to mention #2 works much better. I find #1's background to be too busy.

I love that first shot. I would have loved to see her composed a little differently, but I really like the concept. I can't comment on the color because I am on my laptop. The second image her facial expression looks a little funny, but I like her body line. You are on the right track here. Good job.

I like #2. I think #1 could have worked if shot at a different angle.

I am bored today.. lol! I took a shot at the first image also... did basically the same things.. Contrast, sharpening, -13 yellow, +1 red... and cloned out the branches in front of her, and the tree growing out of her head..... Kind of a quick clone job, so not perfect! More to show OP a different idea....

I'm not a fan of the first one as the background is too distracting. Love the background in #2 but the facial expression is a little off. I think this series could be a home run if you reshot and really looked at your surroundings.

Ditto on that! Maybe a little bit of fill flash.. make the subject really pop....

Thanks all for your replies

I was so nervous lol I think that got the best of me. I still dont trust my ability and my eye just yet. I was going for a softer look and actually while editing in LR I dropped the clarity. If I redo this session should my backgrounds be more plain?

#1 was taken before she was even ready lol I just loved the way her coat was on her arms and snapped real quick .

Just don't let the background be so busy that it competes with the subject for attention. Maybe try to get better expressions out of your model.. she just looks bored! Lol!

Ok Ill work on getting out of the busy backgrounds. As for the model she is actually a high school senior that lacks confidence and well we are both new to this and I need to be able to give better direction. She is always wanting me to take her pictures I am hoping with more experience working with her she will open up even more .

What's up TPF noob! Welcome to the forums

I'm still kind of a noob myself. Anyway, this is a good shot, I like it! The model is great, and it's a great idea. I agree with the others that the background needs to be a little less distracting, and the model herself needs to be sharper. This is my own go at it. I kind of like brighter photos when it comes to outside scenes. You may argue it's overexposed, but I like it and that's just my personal preference.
