Why this crop/orientation?

I like horizontal portraits honestly and I shot most of the other shoot in portrait orientation so I wanted to mix it up. One reason I couldn't show the bottom was because she had on sneakers and the dress would cover them sitting so I didn't want that in the pic. It was either crop it tight which could of been done or space to left to right or space above her head.....I did one of each and I ended up liking this the best I guess it just came down to preference at that point

Good news is that you didn't go overboard on processing. Skin, hair, eyes all look very natural and lovely. I like the windswept feel of it.

But I really dislike the background. I think the colors work fine, but it is just too harsh. Which lens did you use? Wonder if you could go in and put a mask on it and blur it even more to settle it down a bit?

Ok smartass........he asked why I did what I did and I answered him. Even if I get a picture just the way I want it I still ask for critique because there will always be something I never notified. For example I never notified the white stick in this picture until the pointed it out. So.....if you don't want to be helpful please move on

Not at all I really like that! I struggled with going black and white and cropping it tight I guess I let to many of my other shots influence my decision

Yes I agree I did blur it out some more this is where I felt it was most natural. And one of my goals has been to do retouching but not overdoing it like I have in the past so thank you for that's and on the right track!
