Some more recent portraits

Heres some more recent portraits while walking around valley fair. All shot with a d90 and 85mm f1.4.

Critique is welcome as always.

I wouldn't call these portraits; a portrait normally refers to a planned, composed image of one or more people. These appear to me instead, to be candid shots, that is: shot at a moment of opportunity rather than planned.

1. This would be a stronger image with a better crop. There's a lot of empty space above which adds nothing. I would also suggest trying to reduce the highlights on the skin slightly; his face especailly appears a bit hot, and always watch for things like the cropped toes. I think this would have been a much stronger image had you been able to include the his whole shadow.

2. I'm afraid this one doesn't do a lot for me. It appears slightly soft, and the adults fingers in the lower LH corner are very distracting.

Woops, I should have titled candid portraits or just candid.

I didn't realize how empty and black the space above his head was. Ill definitely crop that one.
