The other day at work, a customer brings in a disposable camera


She says her son took it to camp, and before having it printed, she wants to know if I can check if there are any photos.


I said, I could write on the workbag, not to develop it if they didn't turn out well.


She says "no, I want you to check before I give it to you if there are any photos"

I said that's not possible, because it needs to be developed.

She rolls her eyes and says "can't you just pull it out and put it on the light to see?!?!?!?!?!?!"

And I'm like "No - it needs to be developed first!"


Grr. She thought I could just pull the negatives out and put it on the lightbox and see if there was anything on the negs.


I suppose I should have just pulled it out, made it lightfogged, and said, no, sorry, there's nothing there.

I understand ya completely! I've had plenty of customers that couldn't seem to understand simple concepts no matter HOW detailed an explanation I'd give!

I also wonder - why is it that now, people whinge and complain if the colour is slightly off in a photo, when 20 or so years ago, it wouldn't have mattered..

I have photos of me as a baby, that are out of focus, or the colouring is odd...

I have these photos of me though, and I treasure them...

Nowadays people expect everything (and they expect a photo from a 1hr store to be as good as one from a professional place where you might pay 10x as much)
