Can others edit my Photos
Photos NOT OK to edit
So, I just registered here pretty much 1 minute ago, and I want to post up some of my new pictures. I just bought a Nikon D40 so I'm still getting used it. It is my first DSLR and I am 15 years old so the pictures are not necessarily professional. Anyways, tell me what you think.

I think that's all of them!

Welcome to the forum. I like the coke and piano keys shots.

C&C per req:
1. Nicely exposed, but the image itself doesn't really say anything to me.
2. Too many out-of-focus elements in this one.
3. Nice, would have been better to have the whole thermometer, but that's minor.
4. As per #1
5. I like this, but would have prefered a slightly greater DoF, with say 2-3 keys completely in focus.
6. Nice, but just a trifle over-exposed, understandable given the dynamic range. Become familiar with the Daylight Exposure rule, and bracketing. These two things can very helpful in situations like this.
All in all, nice work. Yes, I know I nitpicked a bunch of points, but I think you're off to a heck of a good start - looking forward to seeing more of your work!

Thanks for the comments.

Are there any threads or guides talking about the "daylight exposure rule" and bracketing? I've never heard of those.

I'm sure there are many; try the forum search feature. Bracketing (Exposure bracketing) will be explained in your camera's manual. The daylight exposure rule simply states that for a given ISO in bright sunlight, set your shutter-speed to that number and your apeture to f16 or some equal ratio. I'd suggest a Google search on-line or some basic technique books from your local library to help you learn more about the basics.

Alright, thanks. I've looked around and gained some new knowledge today :).
