The only one I converted from yesterday, cartridges were nearly out of the frame on the left. On the full size image you can clearly see the smoke coming out of the barrels, not sure if it will be visible on this size upload here.

on my monitor it is very flat.

then there are the cartridges that i fine distracting, too close to the edge.

I can appreciate how hard to capture that but if you hadn't told me what they where i would be clueless (but I am not a gun person so that may an an effect on my reaction)

Contrast looks rather low. I use a side-by-side with automatic ejectors, and to me having the two airborne, ejected hulls at the side of the frame is "interesting", and yet perplexing...I wonder how he can be SO FAST at reaching into his shooting jacket for two more shotshells, while the ejected hulls are still in the air!!! I'm diggin' the smoke coming out of the breech!

Thanks for the input - can't make my mind up about the spent shells yet - I have done an edit and moved into the frame a little.

i wondered about the shells and the hand in the pocket, but since i am fairyl clueless about shooting i thought it best to keep my mouth shut

Yes, the smoke is a nice touch...but his expression and his line of gaze..the two spent shotgun shell hulls still in the air at the side of the frame AND his hand already in the pocket of his shooting jacket...the photo looks, well, faked to me...it just doesn't seem like a real, genuine photo to me...I've been a side-by-side double shooter for over two decades,and the elements in the photo look to me like they are from a set-up.

I like the photo myself. If he unlocked the breech with the right hand, and reached down into his pocket, while turning his left wrist, to use his right elbow to push the stock down to eject the spent shells, then I could see this. We don't all keep the right hand on the stock and eject over the shoulder, everyone has their own little ways of making things better. Like here, I bet he can speed load that smoke stack like nobody's business. I currently shoot an Ithaca Hammerless 12 ga side-by-side, that's been in the family for over 100 years, but it's not an ejector model.

Certainly not mocked up - they are where they are. I have no idea what make of gun he was using and didn't really notice how fast he was loading but he certainly brought some birds down.

No matter what is said about the shooting ability of your subject,Ady, I think it is a good photo. Catching the spent shells in mid-flight like that was a very nice touch, as is the smoke. He probably has been shooting longer than I have been breathing, hence the calm, non-excited gaze. Good photo, thank you for sharing!
