Well young lady. I like it. I wish that I could offer something more technical. When I get home, I will try to view it on the black background. I wonder what it would look like in sepia.

It's been a crazy hard sell to get comments as of late Jenna I was looking at this on Flickr and I really like it, but... The little bit of light tree on the left is distracting, I think it's a case of more or none, it really stands out against the dark in that area and draws the eye but doesn't reward it. Otherwise I really like the shot! Nice job!

Looking at this scene, I can't help but think that it's one of the very few that really might look better in colour. The other detractor IMO, is the rather bland sky. It's definitely a nice scene, and I think that there are probably a number of great images to be captured here. Definitely worth a re-visit!

^^^ What they said. I did not even notice the light tree on the left. Now it totally sticks out. I also would not have thought about the bland sky. I did feel something was missing however. It does look better on the dark background.

I think if the boathouse was in the bottom thirds instead of the top thirds it would be better for me. more sky and trees, less water. bottom half of the image is just not very interesting to me.

This is a nice subject that gets lost in all the business of the composition and processing.
I took a stab at trying to make the boathouse stand out using some vignetting and selective contrast.
I added some noise reduction to soften it a bit. The contrast was a bit jarring.

Perhaps a bit more than I might do normally, but it's tough to work with a small jpeg.
Hope you don't mind the attempt.

Not at all! The sky was crap that day, just grey with no detail, that's why I shot two thirds of water instead. Thanks for the comments guys!

It's a little too busy. Not sure what the subject is ... the river, trees, shadows, or building. My eye wants to wander all over the place, which isn't always a bad thing, but it never really settles on anything in particular.
