The camera cleaning topic

I agree that they're everywhere. I just don't get the connection between mold and Eclipse. Mold usually occurs on the inside of lenses.

It appears that when you clean something with a liquid like a lense, the inside of it could be vulnerable to mold. Probably because some of the liquid could be trapped inside the lens. That's my take on it, but i have no real world experience and i could be completely wrong.

Products like Eclipse have a strong affinity for water. They absorb it and hasten its evaporation. Moisture is necessary for mold growth. Reducing moisture reduces the chances of mold. Eclipse is also extremely volatile. In other words, it doesn't stick around for long. Gone in seconds.

This could not have been better timed. My wife is working on cleaning a few of her old film cameras right now, actually. Thanks for posting!

I'm waaaaaaaaaaay too scared to clean any of our DSLR sensors. I gotta give you guys some credit for having the guts to do it yourselves.
