The Coffee House

So you didn't have to move the couch🤣.
I shifted it so she only had one way ion and out - she never went back there, after that. Other than trips to her food dish or her litter box, hasn't been more than 10 feet from me today. I guess she's happy to be home.

I have The Hobbit, the LotR Trilogy, and the Silmarilion, and we have the movies on Fandango or something like that. We watch them at least once a year. 😂
Was the Silmarillion a fun read?

This book is about the beginning. I liked it more than the LOTR, but it is much too short, but I think Tolkien just wanted to fill in some of the past. Unfinished Tales is kinda a companion to the Silmarillion.

It's written more like a history book, and I never got very far into it. A friend of mine gifted me a hardbound first edition. I guess I need to get an e-copy and read it on my kindle.

Same! I never really got into it which is a shame, I genuinely enjoyed LOTR

Looking forward to seeing The Hunt for Golum, and episode 4 through 8 of the Rings of Power. You seen the first 3 ep's yet?

I'll leave Silmarillion till last, gonna be hard enough trying to read the trilogy first. Am gonna make an effort👍. Not the biggest of book readers, pretty sure the only book I've read from start to finish was Never Ending Story, oh and Space Balls🤣...

The series of books that I've read the most were the Narnia Chronicles. When my kids were small, I would read the entire set to them each Summer. I enjoy the BBC rendition of the books, and was disappointed that they didn't put more effort into the movies.

Good morning Hosers! It's Wednesday already! Started my day by forgetting to put a coffee pod in the maker. Yay me! After a brutal August the temps have finally dropped and it's raining!! I'll finish my coffee and then brew a nice cup of Assam Black Beauty tea.

Trying a new recipe this evening for dinner. I'll marinade chicken thighs in a mixture orange juice, ketchup, soy sauce, and lemon juice that is spiced up with ginger, cloves, garlic, and a touch of cayenne. Simmer the chicken until mostly cooked, remove from the pan, thicken the marinade with corn starch, return the chicken to the pan and finish cooking. Served with basmati rice and sesame green beans.

That sounds a lot like my long lost chicken wing marinade recipe - but without the ketchup. It was oj, ginger, honey, garlic and something else that I can’t recall. Marinate overnight then cook in the oven or on the grill. I’ll have to experiment this weekend and try to figure it out. They were perfect. I have lately been using a dry rub but now your post has me craving the old school style.

All these seem to have a ton of ancestral Benihana DNA, right? Online hacks galore.

Getting a taste of Fall with cool mornings, and highs in the low 80s during the day. We're really dry, close to drought dry, so the humidity is also very low, making some extremely nice days outside.

The instructions I had, had me cooking the chicken thighs in a pan, but I think I'm going to have to try this out on the grill. The marinade can be retained and thickened for use on the chicken when it is served. I plan on experimenting with pineapple juice as well for a more Polynesian-like recipe. It turned out good, and the family approved... well, those that like chicken thighs... one of my sons won't touch them no matter how they are cooked.
