The Coffee House

What a nice nearly windless day✌... the councils gonna have a good supply of chip mulch after the clean up finishes. So glad her nest held up, always stressful when it's a new nest and untested, she done a good build🤪.

All in all good weekend for us. Friday and Saturday relaxing in-between prepping for big family cookout at the lake on Sunday. The grandkids spent their time riding the golf cart around and kayaking. Lil'Bit stayed overnight with us, so she and Papa took a long cart ride around the back roads. Ended up at the point to watch the sun set over the water, it didn't disappoint very pretty. Then we sat on the dock and just talked for a long time, hadn't seen her in 2 weeks, since school started, so we had a lot to catch up on. By 8 she announced she was tired, and by 8:30 we were all dead to the world. Yesterday we were sad to say goodbye, though it won't be a long break, she's coming back for the weekend.

I just looked at some of my photos on my Macbook Pro and wow they look so much better than my Dell Ultrasharp monitor. I wonder if has been the reason why I never liked the way my photos looked, they all looked so flat to me. A new monitor would have been a good idea. Even though I used a Spyder color calibration on it, they still looked flat no matter what I did. Color wise they are very similar between the Dell monitor and my Macbook but the photos on the Mac are so much more lively looking and not dull.

Monitors do make a difference and maybe thats why people have told me some of my photos looked overexposed or too much contrast.

I just couldn't believe the difference. You can kinda tell in this picture.

No, but I'm rather fond of it sweet, in a glass, with ice and a slice of lemon.😉
I've never had a cold iced tea before, might have an adventure in summer and make a batch hey👍.

Ps. Day 20 of Mrs Magpies eggses. Roughly 5 to go and then if there fertile new life🤪. Missing Swoops though!

I picked up some blueberry tea in Maine - pretty good.

We finally got the brat home last night. MLSIL was able to grab her and put her in the carrier. She was not happy in the truck, but was back to normal in less than five minutes once we were home.

So you didn't have to move the couch🤣.

Except I use android 😅

And I'm using Microsoft Edge for browser. Safari was ok but since I don't use an iphone...doesn't make much sense to me.

But its def taking some adjustments. I only have 512gb of storage so I have to figure out what I'm going to do with all my data drives. Even the 1TB model wasen't gonna be enough anyways so I'd have to use external drives regardless. I just don't know if I should do a NAS or just external SSD or something. External SSD is probably my best bet.
I just scored a refurbished Water Panther 14TB HDD to replace a 2TB SSD that quit without warning. Water Panther takes end-of-life hardware and breathes new life into it, and they did an incredible job on this one. I did a scan for drive health, and it's pretty much good as new. I thought about putting it in an external case but ended up dropping it in my desktop instead. Third SSD to go bye bye without a warneing or even a kiss on the cheek, so I'm migrating back to HDD for most of my uses, since they are fast enough.

Hey @Digger... Since you gave the fried cheese another go... I was at the store and saw this and decided it was time for me to also give it another go (I know it's not Vegemite but if I ever see it in a store, I will get it so I can compare.)

It is definitely still an acquired taste, but it wasn't so bad. Not as poisonous as I remember 😅 I had it on buttered toast.

The only way, very thinly spread on buttered toast! Yum! You can get Vegemite in a squeeze bottle on Amazon.

It so weird using a computer this much smaller than the 27" display I been so used to using for many years. I did plug it in to my monitor and tried to see if I could make it work as a regular PC like I been but it looked awful. The built in display of the MacBook is so nice that it made my monitor look bad lol. Makes me not want to use it anymore haha. At some point I may have to invest in a better display with HDR support.

But yeah so far I am having an overall positive experience. I do kinda like the smaller size, it does simplify things and makes it far more lighter + portable.

I use a Macbook Pro M2 for work, and it's a wonderful machine. You can get a docking station and plug in a full sized keyboard and use a BT mouse and don't even have to have the laptop open. I have a 27" monitor plugged into mine, and it doesn't look bad.

Anyone else started watching series 2 of the Rings of Power yet?

I really need to read my LOTR's books, I've tried but it's really heavy reading material.

I have a problem remembering the previous pages, ended up writing notes to help me🤣. Maybe when it's backyard camping time I'll give it another try.
Have not seen yet. If the books are too tedious, you can try the movie set. Not 100% the same, but close enough, and the series are based more on the movies than the books.

Good morning Hosers! It's Wednesday already! Started my day by forgetting to put a coffee pod in the maker. Yay me! After a brutal August the temps have finally dropped and it's raining!! I'll finish my coffee and then brew a nice cup of Assam Black Beauty tea.

Trying a new recipe this evening for dinner. I'll marinade chicken thighs in a mixture orange juice, ketchup, soy sauce, and lemon juice that is spiced up with ginger, cloves, garlic, and a touch of cayenne. Simmer the chicken until mostly cooked, remove from the pan, thicken the marinade with corn starch, return the chicken to the pan and finish cooking. Served with basmati rice and sesame green beans.

Got all the extended editions on blueray Mr. The LOTR books were special additions and cost me AU$300 for the boxed set, also have Tolkiens Silmarillion which is about the 1st & 2nd age.

There's always Audible to listen too🤣...

I have The Hobbit, the LotR Trilogy, and the Silmarilion, and we have the movies on Fandango or something like that. We watch them at least once a year. 😂
