I made it through another August. Next week is the 1st week of classes, which is also just pure insanity, so I still have to get through that, but August is over for another year.

I am celebrating by spending the morning still in my pjs, curled up on the couch with a pot of coffee, my snoozing kitties, Brandford Marsalis, and Dostoevsky.

Things I forget:

A few weeks ago I had a few trips to make using buses, and I needed to figure out how long those trips would take (for "next time . . .") -- including transfers between buses (which includes wait times). Anyway, I had a camera and I came up with the idea that if I take pictures everywhere, then I could simple check the time on the pictures and figure them out. So I had the pictures, but I didn't get around to doing the calculations that day. Last night, I ran across the pictures, but I'd forgotten why I took them, and so I deleted them. This morning I remembered that trip and why I took those odd pictures. Too late.

Agree. It wasted some fine actors in a sticky-sweet, cute old codger script.
If it ever shows up again streamed, the Polish series, "The Green Glove Gang," is similar and way better.

Did I Damage An Eye?

Actually, there is no real question. It appears that I have damaged my left eye. In fact, it probably happened back during the Lunar Eclipse. My left eye has a fairly large burn spot now. I'm not blind in that eye, and there is some sight, but there is definitely a fairly large spot where some of my eye's sensors are not entirely working now. Maybe someday medical science will progress to the point where these problems can be repaired, but I doubt if I'd be able to afford it anyway. Still, it doesn't affect me that much because my right eye is still working as well as it has been for most of my life (I'm very near sighted and have to wear glasses anyway). A bit sad, but well, that's life. . . .

@VidThreeNorth changes to vision can be a symptom of many things, and should be checked out by a doctor sooner rather than later.

Driving? Let me know when you’re on your way back through my area and we can meet up so I can give you those cone flower plants. Or we can meet at PHL for a sunrise shoot once you’re back in Maine now that it’s getting to be at a more reasonable time.

Sorry that I been MIA!

I been across the country in Arizona & Nevada! My first time out west. I did it ya'll! I faced my fears.

And here I am at the Grand Canyon!

What an incredible trip this was, lot of memorable moments and a huge personal growth for me. I got to experience a Haboob! & 115 temps that caused my Nikon D750 to overheat and couldn't take anymore pictures at the hoover dam (another amazing place!)

2000 photos I took, so expect me to be share some for a long time!!

Sounds good. Return trip will be long as I'll be hauling the trailer so less direct. PhL sounds like a winner, too. MLSIL sees the surgeon on Tuesday so we should get a date then. I'll PM you when I figure out dates.

Toronto International Airshow (My Failure &)
I tried something different recording the Airshow this year, but after spending a day working on the file, it looks like I failed. I did upload it to YouTube, but only as a "private" file (not searchable). It's not likely that I'll go down to see it tomorrow. I did find a few videos that other people uploaded. Apparently, this is the "longest running airshow in North America". Uhhh, I guess I'll take their word for it for now, though I really have doubts about that claim.

Happy Labor Day, to US hosers! Hope everyone is having a wonderful long weekend.

I've been on vacation the last several days - overseas travel I've always hoped to do. It exceeded expectations! The weather in London and Paris was almost perfect - one rainy day on Friday, which was okay since we left on Saturday and were starting to pack up.

Mostly shot my Pentax MZ, but did manage to use the Holga too - we'll see how that stuff turns out. Filled in the gaps with the cell phone and am very happy with the recent upgrade.

So, sure - I've been to the Louvre and Musee d'orsay and looked at some amazing art - but nothing compared to this little shop that I passed on the way out of the Louvre.

Now that's worth the price of a ticket across the pond!

Pictures will follow, eventually. I'm back to laundry and cleaning up cat yak.

I'm so glad that you went! Good for you! Isn't red rock country beautiful? It's hard to appreciate the vastness of the Grand Canyon until you're right in front of it.

Congratulations! It's beautiful out there, and I don't go often enough. Glad you enjoyed your time out there. My camera quit at the Grand Canyon, but it was because the lens stopped communicating with the camera body. Fortunately Tamron fixed it up under warranty, but I missed a lot of shots after that. Arizona, Nevada, Utah, and Colorado are the sweet spot for immersing in the southwest vibe in my book, and you can stand in all four of those states at the same time at the Navajo Four Corners monument.

Heyho Campers! Happy Labor Day and happy September to one and all! August went out with a wet whimper this year, with a lot of rain and unseasonably cool temps, which was a nice change. Hummers have started showing up in the area looking for my feeder, so I went and purchased a new one and hung it up for them. This year was a good year in that I'm figuring out what will thrive here and what won't, especially in the planters. Maybe I'll be fortunate and get some hummer shots over the next couple of weeks.
