Got swatted as a kid in Phoenix for using Mom's hairspray and lighter to torch Black Widows around the yard and patio.

I spent a summer working in a mechanic shop at a beer distributer. The jackets were really bad and I would swat at then with whatever was in my hand, to shoo them away. I got where I could connect pretty well with a wrench, scredriver or socket extension.

The last time I was stung was 25 or 30 years ago. It was just on my windbreaker sleeve. I moved my arm slightly and the b****** got me. My arm swelled up so much that I had to take the windbreaker (old style with elastic cuff) off to keep from slowing circulation to my hand. My boss sent me to the doctor, then home for the day.

Ammonia works well; maybe why Windex works. Dad would put some in a spray bottle whenevr he was worling on the ladder, clearing leaves or painting trim. So far, I haven't encountered any here, though I spent most of the summer back in MD with MLSIL. We'll see next year.

Howdy Folks! A cold front is finally moving through North Texas and the temps are dropping into the upper 40's at night. Got the parka and mukluks out for the occasion. It is super windy, so much so that if it ain't tied down, it's going to move. Managed to get some shots of a what looks to be a new Monarch that was struggling with the wind. Not sure where it pupated, but possibly from the Butterfly Milkweed, since that is a host plant.
