Biscuit looks nice and flaky. I had my usual Oatmeal with a few blueberries.

This time of year is busy, but seems we hear from people we haven't seen or spoken to in a long time. Good to catch up! Usually hear from past International students we hosted. Many are now married and have children.

One ovf the neighbors came over asking for permission to go in our back yard. It seems he had a turkey hen pop out of his place and hecwas looking for her. He saw prints in the driveway and front yard.

Permission granted and I thanked him for asking. I don't know if he found the wayward bird.

Finished wrapping the Grands gifts. I had over a decade of wrapping paper that had accumulated. Some was of my daughter's paper. She wraps her Santa gifts at my house. I went through and trashed. Paper gets old and musty after awhile. I did keep one roll that is over 25 years old. It was my MIL's paper. Kept it for nostalgia.

Well its been 8 weeks to the day since I had my hip replaced. I am finally ready to venture out this coming weekend to see if I get a few shots.

I love the Winter Solstice! I think it's a beautiful thing to celebrate the longest night of the year, as our Pagan ancestors did (and modern Pagans still do). It's an acknowledgement that light is starting to return, and every day will start lasting longer even in the coldest winter.

Pagan communities were agrarian, and all of their celebrations honor various times of plantings and harvest. It starts with the return of the sun.

My Danish friend Britt and her Mom got us into the 12/21+12 days trad "Jul" thing in 2019 on the eve of the pandemic. We've kept at it since then. Guaranteed weight gain and possible liver damage are part of old Norse feasting. Just strained out the caraway, dill, anise, and coriander seeds soaking in a big bottle of Absolut for 2 weeks. DIY akvavit!

Well, I recorded it, but the wind was strong and shook the tripod. The whole video is bouncing up and down. I'm not sure what I'm going to do with it. I'll have to think about it. I rushed the setup and pointed the camera lower than I should have, so that's another knock against it. Oh well, . . .

Maybe I'll set-up a timelapse on the basement cold-room beer/booze/vino trove to meter seasonal inventory reduction. On second thought probably just self-incriminating evidence too easily used against me by the prissy management.
