Just a tick off -17C this a.m. Thankfully, dead calm. YakTrax kept me upright on the morning hike.
Not much for skating! Great Christmas bake-a-thon weather! Might drink some, too.

Got up to breezy 18°f/-8°c with a light dusting of snow. Furnace still isn't working. Haven't heard from "the guy" yet either. HVAC is a lousy business.

Baking season indeed! I am about to start my first batch of sweet rolls of the season.

We got snow, too. Nice and powdery, took me all of 20 minutes to clean off the car and driveway.

My back yard this morning, a picturesque red cardinal against the white, and two of the crows that are more regularly visiting

Topped up the peanut feeder early and got mugged by scrappy nuthatches--tiny bird, big attitude. Love 'em!

This is powder, too. Maybe an inch, or a little more. There doesn't seem to be any ordinances for snow removal from driveways, so i'm not going to do anything with it, at least as long as shoulder is bothering me. I don't think it's deep enough to use the snowblower.

I want to go see light displays this week - LL Bean, Cumberland township, and Booth Bay Harbor. MLW wants to hit Bean fir shopping so I guess go there first. I'll let her do her thing while I hang out in sporting goods. I want to look at a couple of fly rods.

Last year they had a large tent in place while remodeling. I haven’t been there since, but I got an email saying there was a display and some free workshops. It’s only 25 minutes away and there are other places in town to go, so worth a trip.

I just got PT scheduled - earliest was January 9. I remember some of the exercises so I can do those in the meantime.

Exactly - we got just under an inch of powder this morning - not worth charging the snowblower for. Hubby used the leaf blower and the broom.

We had a very busy morning in the backyard - I was so tickled to see a Northern Flicker at the feeder, I had to run for the phone. Not great shots through a dirty kitchen window- don't judge.

This guy is usually very elusive, lurking about at a distance. This is what a 12°F morning will get you! I geeked out.

Nice. Who sits waiting for a "trophy" shot at a backyard bird feeder? I won't answer that... Maybe if a misdirected snowy egret stopped by...Flickers--that's a handsome bird fairly common hereabouts. Just had a mob of cedar waxwings pillage a big juniper near the deck.
Tough winter so far. Upping the amount and variety of grub at the feeders.
