I plan on adding one of those bushes to the back yard. They grow naturally along the lake here, although I'll get mine from the nursery... they frown on taking anything from Army Corps of Engineers land.

The wonderful button bush...plant it in the boggiest area of your yard and they'll love it! They're natural butterfly magnets, as you can see. Wonderful native bushes to have.

MLW decided to slice her thumb with a chef's knife. She's bled through a bandaid and a gauze pad. She refuses to go to the clinic. I'm about to threaten putting alcohol on it.

Geez, I hope she's better today! A big gash might want a stitch or two.

It stopped bleeding last night once she stopped doing things with it. I figured a stitch or at leat opne of those adhesive strips / butterfly bandage. We'll see how it goes; we postponed the shoipping until today.

Well they came yesterday and filled it higher than it's ever been filled, 95% on the gauge. I called and thanked them for making taking care of me a priority. She seemed surprised but I'm equal opportunity. Screw it up and I'll not hold back. If you fix it after a conversation and you deserve credit and appreciation. Especially since the potential for disaster (busted pipes/freezing/no hot meals) is high should they not remedy the situation.


Gonna order another 10 pounds of beans today!

Looks like the weather folks got it right this time. Snow still pouring down, or sideways sometimes. 6" or so, not stopping until midnight.

Oh well, time to clean up and get ready to learn investment casting the hard way. Like everything else I've learned worth knowing. lol

Super glue is good stuff for those pesky cuts that are just short of stiches. Don't ask how I know this.

A little betadine... will hurt, but help ensure no infection that could cause worse problems. My LW did the same a few years ago, even after getting called out for not cleaning a very sharp Japanese kitchen knife the right way. Ya gotta respect the steel, because it is not forgiving if ya don't...

If anything, super-sharp Japanese blades wised me up the hard way about 20 yrs ago after futzing with semi-sharp knives. Have low-end high-end MACs whose tolerance for inanity or careless moments is near-zero. Stitched a bad one up with dental floss at the bottom of my thumb a few years ago. Usually pressure via tight bandaging will stem things. May need to repeat. Hoping no blood thinners are in play?

We have mupircin(?) antibiotic cream that we used. No more problems.

Have low-end high-end MACs whose tolerance for inanity or careless moments is near-zero. Stitched a bad one up with dental floss at the bottom of my thumb a few years ago. Usually pressure via tight bandaging will stem things. May need to repeat. Hoping no blood thinners are in play?

I was upset with her for half an hour because she wouldn't go, but it was fine. We got her cleaned and bandaged (twice) very quickly. No blood thinners.

Years ago I was washing dishes and grabbed a knife by the blade that I did not see. Cut my finger pretty bad. We were in a bad place and didn't have a copay, that week, so I just elevated and held paper towels to it for a couple hours until it stopped bleeding. MLW felt so bad. Once the bleeding stopped, it was peroxide, gauze and tape.

I made an appointment to donate platelets next week. It will be a little different than my usual double reds but I don't have to wait as long. I really enjoy donating blood but my veins roll and the one inside the left elbow is at a wierd diagonal angle. Newer techs can have a time finding it. I swear I'm going to geet a tatoo showing where the vein's angle!

The truck acted up this morning. Went to recycle and waste disposal center to drop off trash. The truck refused to go into gear, flashing the gear lights on the console. Finally got it in after turning it off and back on a few times but CEL islit. I took it home and we finished day in the Honda. I picked up a code reader but by the time I got home it was too late to deal with it.

Lazy libster and I went to get ice cream out of fridge/freezer and it was soup. Fridge part not cooling right, either. MLW found a good sale at the big box store so ordered a fridge for pickup while I reserved a truck rental. No pickups available so I got a small moving truck. When it rains, it pours.
