In offroading, you air down to get better grip on rocks and "float" on sand (at the beach), so I got a portable compressor that plugs into the trailer wiring socket. I haven't got the jump starter yet, but I have a charger/maintainer (trickle charge).

I like how the jeeps will tell you exactly the tire pressure for each tire on your dash display. My old Honda pilot would at least identify which tire was low, but my Honda CRV just tells me low tire pressure. No clue as to which tire it’s referring to most of the time! Super annoying.

Going to be moving away from Honda for my next car. They refused to cover a known issue with my car and I had to pay out-of-pocket for the repair. After months of fighting with Honda corporate ,I’ve given up - and they’ve lost a customer. This is my fourth Honda. Princess has a Hyundai Santa Fe that I absolutely love driving and it has all the bells and whistles. It’s much quieter on the road than my CRV and much more comfortable for long rides. That’s a definite possibility. Will probably look for a hybrid sometime next year.

Sharon: my mom's old chevy (Impala, IRC) had either the pressure or which tire was low - I don't remember exactly. Yes, I love the pressure for each being shown but it will drive me nuts trying to get all four the same, sometimes. If I don't drive it every few days, with consecutive colder days the pressure drops a bit. I have to go for a long drive on the Interstate to get them all warmed up before I try to add air. These tires are marked 40psi maximum, so I try to keep them between 36psi and 38psi. When I air down, I try to get to 25 but I might start going 20.

LL and I got the vanity cabinets and the sink (enamled cast iron) upstairs last night. The Corian counter top will be replaced so it's still downstairs. We'll hold on to it to use as a pattern for cutting the new counter top.

The Keurig is dying: pod top won't lock properly. At least we have the caraffe option and a B&D drip pot from MLSIL but being able to brew a single cup is so much better for MLW and I. A new K has been ordered; MLW will pick it up when she goes to Portland later this morning.

She was given a Brevil Do-Everything-Include-Grind-Beans for retirement but none of us are smart enough to use it. I guess my project for the next couple days will be to learn it. Probably start with making some esspresso so MLW can make tiramisu. Then I'll make some cappiccino.

When you RV. You have to be prepared. I carry a good assortment of tools, wire tracer, meter, small charger, small 12v air compressor, fittings, tape. Etc. Ive used it all at one time or another.

@snowbear lots of experience with tires. It was a major line item expense at my trucking company. Get a good digital read tire gage they aren't that expensive. Pressure should be checked when the tire is cold, not hot, and should be set to the vehicle specificaton sticker (usually found on the driver's side door jamb). Every tire is rated for a specific load at a specific pressure. The vehicle engineers have determined the ideal pressure based on weight, mpg, wear, sidewall flex/heat buildup, handling and the maximum pressure the tire will have when hot. Airing up to the maximum sidewall pressure creates uneven tire wear and can diminish handling performance.

Don't have the Jeep anymore but still have the PowerTank. Fill with liquid CO2 and it fills many tires. Runs air tools too...but you'll need gloves evaporation makes 'em cold quick. No battery or moving parts and fast as any shop compressor. Think I paid $300, they've more than doubled since.

For future - highly recommend Costco for appliance purchases if you’re a member. Prices are not much cheaper than your typical Lowe’s/HD or Bestbuy but they really stand behind their goods and delivery and haul away are typically included in the price so in the end it’s a better deal than the sale prices elsewhere.

We are getting a Costco within spittin' distance. It'll be a ten minute drive from the house... very dangerous...

Howdy Folks! Gotta love Texas!!! It got o 82F/28C this afternoon. It's supposed to be a nice weekedn... we'll see. Daytime temps will be in the 70s all week long next week. I'm off Monday for semi-annual physical, so I may go for a nice walk in the afternoon.

My CRV shows TP on all four tires, but it's a Hybrid so maybe there is a difference. It has a nice turbo-charged 4 cylinder engine that really gets up and goes with that electric motor boost. Still, I may opt for a Toyota Corolla Cross Hybrid for my last car. I've decided I don't want a car payment once I go into retirement.

This month I officially qualify for Medicare, but since I'm still working and have a qualified health plan, I decided to delay starting Medicare. I think I'm automatically switched to Tricare for Life, which is probably the only decent benefit I got for giving The Man twenty years of my life.

I was working as a contractor and had coverage through MLW when I qualified. I had to use Medicare as secondary and MLW's plan as primary. it might depend on where you are.

I did some research and I can delay medicare as long as I have a qualified health plan, which I do, and once I do retire, I have something like 8 months to sign up for medicare, although I will do so immediately. My Tricare for Life will be my secondary and act as a medigap insurance. Tricare has really saved us as a secondary, we had almost no out of pocket expeses after my DSU had her heart attack and bypass surgery.

Here's the evening gang from last night.

These doves love to visit the birdbath right at dusk. It was about 18°F out there, but the birdbath heater keeps the water flowing and the critters flock to it.

My husband put a rock in there on the side, and they argue amongst themselves to see who wins the top seat.

Best money I ever spent, that heater. I only look at them through the kitchen window - very backlit shot, but I don't want to startle them while getting their last bit of comfort on a cold night. They flew off about 10 minutes after I took this.

We got a dusting of snow last night and this morning: less than an inch / 2.5 cm.

I am not much of a football (oblong American type) fan but MLSIL want to watch the game. I used to watch the (Baltimore) Colts may years ago (got to see them at Memorial Stadium beat the then reigning champion Dolphins) and have, on occasion, watched Dallas and the Baltimore Ravens paly. If I had to pick a preference ... I do live in Maine, so maybe ... ?

MLW picked up wings, pork butt and ribs the other day; we picked up brioche "slider" buns and a few things for the wing sauces today.

There's always the Puppy Bowl.

In other sports, Hurray for USA Women's Hockey! I really hope USA and Canada take gold and silver (either order is fine with me)
