Only a decade ago one of my graddaughters and I would go for boonie stomps with the camera, a couple of hours in 102F with camel backs and fortitude, and we did ok. She was the same granddaughter that joined me on the Navajo Loop Trail at Bryce Canyon, a 1000 foot descent at 7500 to 8500 ft altitude for two folks who live their lives at 600ft above sea level. On the way back up, I told that I'd just lie down and die there and she could continue to the top to let my wife know of my demise...

My heart never beat so hard, but I survived and made it to the top again. To add insult to injury, we had parked at a different parking lot about a mile away, and my wife asked me to be the one to hike all the way back to get the car. My super trooper granddaughter accompanied me on that walk, or was it a crawl at that point?
