It was very warm today and it's not going down that much tonight, so we are contemplating the air conditioners. I got the grass cut and most of the trim done.

We had dinner on the deck (oven barbecued chicken, corn on the cob, mashed potatoes, biscuits, and a salad. The corn and lettuce are from a very local farm. We watched the groundhog amble across the back yard.

Tomorrow I see the dermatologist, the first of five or six referrals by the new primary care person. After a couple weeks off, I have a platelet donation on Monday.

You've been busy!

Usually, it's the humidity that drives us to turning on the A/C. With overhead fans on, if it's not too grossly hot just air movement can help a lot. But I really don't like feeling the humid air seeping in and being felt everywhere. Icky.

Pics of the groundhog next time! They are so cute. I know if they get close to the house or deck, their digging/burrowing habits can be destructive, but if they keep a distance and stay in the woodsy areas, I like seeing them around. They're very shy.

The cooling aspect of A/C is secondary to drying the air for me. I keep it @ 80f for the most part. Some mornings the humidity creeps up overnight and I'll turn it down for a bit.

Just got back from some time in the woods. Were talking living like the late 1800s. No running water, indoor facilities or electricity. Gas lighting is the extent of it. Right next to a fast moving creek with a falls so it's always humid. Every evening around 6 it gets bad. Good time for sitting on the porch. But after an hour or so a breeze comes along to clear things up. Been going there for awhile and love it. It's not actually quiet cause of the falls but after a few hours it fades into the background. I live rural and this is a couple steps further.

Another hellishly hot day in North Texas. I walked past the hall thermostat yesterday afternoon, and it was registering 85F and that left me scratching my head. Turns out that somehow my echo speaker thermometer got turned on and was sending data to the thermostat, the problem being that it was being hit by the sun a warming it up. I removed it from the sensor list to keep the AC from running non-stop, since we keep the thermostat at 75F.

On the "searching for relocation opportunities" I found what for us would be the perfect place in the country, and that is Johnson City, TN. No income tax, low cost of living, highs rarely climb past 85, usually no deep snow in the winter, and most importantly, proximity to good health care options for the Spousal Unit. I did a search initially for locations that are cool in the summer and mild in the winter, but everything was on the West Coast, with its high taxes and expensive cost of living. When I added cost of living requirements, medical facilities, affordable housing, and tolerable temps, Johnson City came up on the radar, and Blacksburg, VA. Altitude generally keeps those places cooler in the summer. Now I just have to convince my better three-quarters...

Wednesday nights storm cost me $525 (will check HO Ins). Used the same company that installed my AC/furnace, saved $100. At least I still had electric till it was fixed today.

My vacation has been a bust as I had this electric to deal with and I had to replace a exhaust manifold on my daily driver Mustang- you know that 1 or 2 nuts/bolts that just do not want to cooperate.

Sounds relaxing. In our younger years living in Colorado we camped off of old logging roads to get away from the crowds.

But those taxes... lol The nice thing about TX and TN is that there is no income tax. Sure, they make up for it in other ways, but when I retire it will be bad enough that Uncle Sam is going to want his taxes on my tax deferred retirement account.

Just dropping in to the house say “Hi. I went down to Kittery last weekend to do some window shopping at an outlet that carries fly fishing gear, clothing and some bird hunting gear. I am interested in a fly rod and reel and prefer their 25 year warranty. Never again will I go to Kittery during the summer. Traffic was as bad as DC! Luckily the store wasn’t with the rest of the outlets and I could actually park.

LLBean fly rods are good from entry level to top of the line. And the Bean warranty still rules.

A $150 induction heater off Amazon is extremely handy if you do a lot of work on your own equipment / things that may have corroded fasteners!!!! Works way better than waiting on penetrant to maybe work!
