What's new

The Coffee House

When was a teenager and would complain that I was cold my mom would always say “get up and clean something, you’ll warm up” and that is still what I do! It’s amazing how fast you warm up when you’re vacuuming or cleaning the kitchen.
Yes, this is true and all well and good, but - who the hell wants to vacuum or clean the kitchen to stay warm? What if you want to just sit on your ass? :icon_mrgreen:

@terri I grew up on a farm where there was "always" something that needed to be done, last thing I wanted was Dad thinking up jobs. I found creative ways to loaf, like hide out in the hayloft, on nice days, I'd sit under a tractor or other piece of equipment with a wrench in my hand pretending to do maintenance. Every so often, I'd tap the wrench on something, to keep him from getting to curious. :chuncky:

We are CTC - Clear To Close. Walk-through and closing are the 28th and we'll go in for measurements and drawing floor plan on the 29th. I'm planning on going back up a couple weeks later to take a few boxes and (hopefully) for CATV installation.

We started asking for bids for the roof. It was a sticky issue for the insurance companies becasue we do not really know the age of the roof. We want metal; pay a bit more up front but it will last longer and do well in snow.

Have you seen the metal roof tiles? Are those the ones you are talking about? I think if we need to replace our roof, that is where we will go, since they are hail hardy and provide good insulation.

One of the companies installs the style that look like "regular" shingles. We really prefer the standing seam (wider flat panels with raised edges). There is an extension (one room) with metal, so we want that matched.

That makes sense. My brother has a house in Richmond VA that was built in the 1830's and it has a nice metal roof. His biggest complaint is that it is expensive to have it "painted" every several years. Apparently the older ones need to have some sort of coating on them.

I figured out the 2 magpie names, Scout & Little "Koda". Koda is a modern short form for the Native American name Dakota, which translates to "friend."

So little friend🤘... perfect names for this season hey?

Not many caves in this neighborhood. Bats: could be a problem. Bears: family reunion. 😁
A bigger challenge will be the black fly (secondary Maine state bird) season. I'll have the mud season covered.

I vote for Batcave! Think of the possibilities :-)

Cute. When I read "Scout", I thought the 2nd name would be Boo - as in Boo Radley - from To Kill a Mockingbird. But I am a book nerd ;)
