the milky way dressed in blue

I usually like showing off some of the colours in the milky way, but in this case I thought going with a fully blue tone would add to the mood.
c&c welcome! I went for a taller then usual crop, and put the horizon in the centre, does it work well for this image?

Works well enough but I'm always a fan of more milky way. Not so sure that the bottom 1/4 contributes to the photo in my eyes to the overall mood.

It's ashamed that in 2/3 of the US you can't see the Milky Way according to the US Parks and Wildlife agency.

Love Milky Way shots!! Me personally, I 'd prefer more stars, less water; splitting the image 50/50 leaves one wondering what the focus is in the shot.

I think the centered horizon makes this shot static. Without knowing how much sky you have in the original, I'd suggest cropping the lower portion of the frame to just above the bottom-most two rocks, leaving some space before the darker pair of rocks. Left and right sides are very good. I like the blue overall.

Very pretty. Part of me wonders if the blue is pushed a little too hard, but it's a nice shot regardless.

Abbye, I'm liking your way of composing this image. There is a tipped "Z" pattern going on, with the Milky way providing one diagonal in the upper part of the picture, and the rocks forming an implicit diagonal in the lower part of the picture, with the horizon being the middle of the "Z". The big rock at the lower right kinda balances against the interstellar dust clouds in the upper left. The multitude of pebbles visible in the water echo the multitude of stars seen above. If the crop is different, or the aspect changed, then the composition you created is weakened. And making the scene blue is brilliant, giving it a other-worldly feeling, appropriate to what we're looking at. And I am truly jealous of your clear skies - I virtually never see the stars down to the horizon like you've captured in this image.

it may be a little blue, but reminds me of being in a museum or observatory where it is dark all around you and they show you the
stars.

It's just barely too blue for me, but I do like the effect. Really beautiful night exposure though, nice crisp sharp stars and MW and the foreground exposure is great. Checked out your Flickr feed and you have some great astro work

I love how it's 50/50, with the rocks and the water going to the edge of the sky, gives me a feeling that you are at the edge of the planet!!!
