The Photos That Inspired Me

These were taken on an outing with my daughter the day I bought my camera. I wasn't going for the actual "Awesome Art Making Experience" the day I took these. But when I saw these few pictures, it kind of lit a fire in me. Just thought I would share.

I'm going to be brave and be the first to say...

These are just snapshots...and you probably love them because they are your daughter, and that is about it. I'm not sure there's a lot of C+C to be had on these because in so many ways they just...don't work.

Being straight up...

The first one is under exposed, and you can't really tell what's going on other than the fact that she has pizza hanging out of her mouth and it looks like she's upside down or something.

The second one has a weird color tone to it, almost too pink/purple/something and is taken at an awkward angle, cutting off her arms and making you want to flip the picture so it's right side up.

The third one reminds me of a caterpillar with two legs. Because you don't see any of her neck or the rest of her arms, it just makes it awkward. This picture could have been much better if you were level with her eyes and had her chin in her hands or something. The skin tone is also different here from either of the two pictures.

I am not a professional, I have no training, but these are my observations as a true novice.

Don't give up...keep shooting pics...A LOT...and ask questions, post more pics. You won't hear what you want to hear about 99% of the time, but that's how you get better. Good luck!

Yes,well they are what they are. when you've got kids in the house you've got an excuse to take lots of photos for friends and family. You aren't asking for critique so I won't offer any suggestions other than... keep trying.

Whoops, I'm sorry about that *blushes* sometimes I don't pay attention. For what it's worth, your daughter is a cutie and I can see why as a parent you would like the pictures of her
