One more example of bird photography à LaFoto :roll:

I walked along the banks of our river here and heard this toc-toc-toc.
I tried not to be too noisy in the old leaves and strained my eyes to find him. And I did: high up in the tree.

This is what my sister's zoom lens gave me at the full 200mm:

This is a close crop of the same. It is a woodpecker, all right. But after this, he flew away

See, you are getting there. Just a little more practice and a zoom lens. At least he is not flying or running away in the photo . Very interesting looking bird.

Ah well, by means of cropping out small chunks of a large photo!
And he watched me - I think! He did not continue pecking away. Ah well.
(And this when my maiden name was "Vogel" which means nothing else but "bird" :roll: )

see if you can find a 2x converter LaFoto, and zoom in as much as you can.. also, see if there are any bird feeders around, that are maintained every day.. makes life easy for a photog!

ask around, maybe at a bird feed supply place., someone I am sure will have some info for you,.. or, better yet, put up some feeders in your yard!
