Theme - Shallow DOF

Le sigh.

I only have my phone with me at the moment (well, the K1000, but those pictures won't be ready for a while). The phone has a "selective focus" option, but apparently, those images are larger for whatever reason, and I can't upload any of them here.

I'll have to wait until tomorrow to start posting :(

Yeah, yeah, yeah. But, I'm sure they will be worth the wait. :)

Shot this today while testing out a new used lens, a pre-Ai era 500mm f/8 reflex-Nikkor or "mirror lens". Depth of field at 16 feet is pretty shallow...each of these things is about 1 inch in front of or in back of the focus point. Nikon D610, un-cropped entire frame area shown.

Here's the DOF information in a screen capture I made from an on-line DOF calculator. Approximately 0.13 feet of DOF.

Upload to Flickr then download as large instead of original.

Never tried that on my phone. Might try that in a little while.

The biggest problem is you can't share to TPF from the Flickr App - you'll have to hit the regular site with a browser.

edit: 10-22, I didn't see the recommendation to re-download.

Probably a sale on everything I don't need. Seems to be rolling that way this year.

So annoying! I did read that you can go to the Flickr.com full site and get the bb code but if you have an iPhone or iPad, you won't be able to copy/paste it. So for Android users, go to the full site in Chrome or whatever browser you're using and you can get the bb code and post using your phone. If you have IOS then you are SOL. On my iPad I save a low res file and upload it directly. On my phone I use Snapseed to resize then save and upload.

Hello Verizon (they own Yahoo who have Flickr) and Apple????? This has been a known issue for years!!! Please fix Flickr App and iPhone/iPad copy/paste compatibility!

Oh well. I don't have the Flickr app and I can't find where/how to upload on the mobile Chrome app, so it will have to wait until I can transfer to an actual computer.

but if you have an iPhone or iPad, you won't be able to copy/paste it
I've kinda figured out how to get around it on iPhone. Generally, it's worked for me. Go to the desktop site (on your phone--"request it"), then go to bb code. Press on it to highlight any portion of it, just enough to get the selection handles. Take the left selection handle and select to the very beginning of the code. Then, take the right selection handle and pull it downward below the code. It should select the entire row (it'll show a blue bar going off the right side of the phone).

Then, tap it to get the copy/paste menu, select copy.

I've had some instances where the copy menu didn't want to pop up, but I think it was due to the screen being somewhat zoomed in. I think.

All of this crap when Flickr could easily make it compatible with iPhone.

Is it Flickr or is it iPhone? Seems like Apple might be the ones with the control in fixing the issue since I’ve had other copy/paste issues with iPhone. Will try your solution. Thanks!

While Apple has their faults in many places, I personally place all blame on Flickr for this, because they could easily put this function into their dedicated app.
