Defragging is putting all your files back in contiguous order on your Hard drive. Your computers Hard disk has sectors on it, they are way too small to store all the bits of your data in one chunk, so it separates your file into many pieces. As your computer saves information, your hard drive spins faster then it can write data, so it saves your data in chunks like this....
Finance sheet, porno picture, rest of finance sheet, rest of porno picture, game data, MS word, more porn picture, more finance sheet, more MS Word, more porn, more porn, more porn, more porn, more MS word, Some Internet favorites, More MS word,

To put your files back in order (defrag) is to help your computer serch for files faster, thereby in theory speeding up your computer. When i worked in a repair lab at Intel, i once got someones machine that was 97% fragged, (according to windows), i never seen anything so bad, the guy tells me, yeah its been running kind of slow, do you know why? It took like 4 minutes for it to boot up. Every time i tried to open something it locked up, every time i tried to defrag it, it would lock up.
OMG i just relized something, i am the biggest dork in the world!!!!!!! NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!
God i am glad i am no longer a computer science major!
