I hear all these new reports that all this bad stuff is happening and the news shows these people whose lives are pretty bad shape, but they are alive. It is important that people see the real situation of what is happening, they shouldn't plaster it everywhere, but make it available, or put on the news after you have given people sufficent warning about what they are about to see.
I side with the above opinions. Reality should not be masked.I must admit, the french news worked on me - it made me aware of things, it shocked me, and I saw things I never would have seen in Australia,
Who is at the wheel here people!!!!!!!!!!!!! We are richocheting through the ether, flying out of control!!!!!!hobbes28 said:You're alright bace.
On topic, I agree with bace too on this one.  as well as most of the others so far. It really isn't something that I think they should be showing.
When they are under criticism because so many people died, are they going to want pictures of the enormous amount of dead?An agency spokeswoman said space was needed on the rescue boats and that "the recovery of the victims is being treated with dignity and the utmost respect."

The images might haunt me if my family is involved. But the said warning should probably be sufficient enough for me to turn the tv off.
Photojournalism will not fullfill its job if its hands are tied.
Images have the power to move mountains. My humble opinion is that that freedom should not be obstructed.
Interesting thread . I hope to see more views on this.

It's hard for someone to imagine this kind of thing with just numbers. I think that it should be up to the viewer to decide whether they see the watered down photos or the actual gore.
