Thunderbolts and Lightning

On our way home from a dinner date, my fiancee and I got to experience a magnificent sunset. When we got home, however, it had transformed into a thunderstorm. With all the lightning going on, I decided to get out my camera and give it a whirl. The following is a result of this adventure.

This was taken at ISO100, f/18, 13sec and 18mm.

it was good with the lightning but the crop lines, colour in the sky and overall composition make it really good IMO

Very nice! I think a touch more detail in the foreground would work wonders, also it looks like you have a smudge on the right side of the image (dirty sensor).

I brought the shadows up in the foreground quite a bit already, and I didn't want to make it look too unnatural, but I agree - a little more wouldn't hurt! As for the smudge, I'm not seeing what you're referring to! (Granted, I am on my phone right now.)

This was the first time I've ever attempted to shoot lightning, and I'm pretty pleased with the results!

I see what you're talking about now! I've cloned it out in Photoshop and I noticed a speck up by the lightning bolt that I took care of too!
