What do you think? Is the background also too feminine? This is a cute little boy i had the pleasure in shooting

I don't mind the backdrop, but why is there so much of it above him?

Perhaps the white line bisecting the image is the bigger problem you don't see.

Interesting you mentioned that, BJ. I actually think the white rim of the basket connects the subject with the background. I find it pleasing and interesting. I also like the composition with the extra headroom. It seems to amplify his 'shortness' and vulnerability. It is *slightly* tilted to the right.

Great catch Ron, I never would have noticed in a thousand years.

love how each person viewing it can pic out something diffrent be it good or bad. just shows you that everyone sees things diffrently.

im not a fan of the background myself but the look on the kids face for me outshines the blah background.

Thanks all! I didn't notice the white line cutting through the photo. I don't think its a "problem" though. :P It's just preference with the headroom at the top. Bazooka hit it right on the head :) Ron... ill fix the background.. lol Thanks again yall!

What makes it blah?

TOO Busy for me...and that upside wallpaper was the FIRST thing I noticed...then the baseboard intersecting with the white trim of the basket....THIRD thing I noticed was the highly amusing look on the baby's face. If it was me, I'd mask the baby right out of there onto a less distracting background. But then I just don't like the wallpaper to begin with...even if it was right side up.;)

The white of the basket lining up with the white baseboard makes it look like the baby is behind a painted foreground and not in a basket setting on the floor

Then I saw the little round bumps on the bottom of the basket, and it made me think of Cartman from South Park.

I don't think the background is feminine at all but also don't think it really goes with the shoot... Don't those changeable background have a bokeh effect, the floor changes sharpness but the wall is super sharp it really throws of the depth of the image.

It's not that busy. And no I wouldn't say the background is feminine. I will say there could be a better color combination choice. That's just me. Also, I would try applying some different angles on this shot and the rule of thirds. And the subjects face seems slightly over-exposed, but it's still a great shot!

Thing is... I masked him ONTO the background... :p I guess if i have to ask if its "too busy" it basically is... :P

"Lot of wasted pixels at the top" as my professor would say. He's against us cropping and says if a photo is shot right in the beginning it doesn't need to be cropped and the pic may serve us better when it arrives at printers. But he's always on our case.

Thank you! The background was masked on and i forgot to blur it out!
