Too busy?

to me it's two obvious that the background is masked on. The cute little one looks like he's pasted in there. His face also looks a tad overexposed. For me the background doesn't work, even after the edit and there is too much headroom, in fact it's the amount of headroom that makes me notice just how busy the background is, there's too much of it! Sorry!

I don't mind the style or color of the background, but I do think there's too much of it, and it makes me feel like there should be something important about the background since it's kind of featured.

The baseboard blending in with the basket, combined with the slight tilt of the frame, actually said, "roller coaster" to me at first glance. Maybe I'm too tired (I've got a one-month-old at home myself), but the feet of the basket looked like wheels and it looked like he could just be rollin' along that floor attached to some track installed on the wall.

Otherwise everything looks great, I love his expression and the focus and lighting are spot-on. Just wanted to throw those in there so you didn't think I was bashing you. :)

Sabrina it looks like there is a slight tilt of the shot sloping down to the right...

OK... im happy with this image. Final image:

ETA: I noticed now that i uploaded this the background is a tad too blurry. Ill fix it now. Thanks everyone for your input! Like someone said before, its great people can look at 1 picture and see complete different things.

Yes I am :)

With either background choice, the baseboard sucks..... big, fat, hairy ones. Also, why post an image that you know is tilted? Editing 101.

I was always taught in art school that cutting people in half or cutting people's heads off in a photo is just plain bad composition and design. If you were doing it on purpose say for an ad it might make sense but in this case it is horrible. The poor thing is cut in half. The colors in the green background are better but still do not compliment the subject.

K -- The baseboard is part of a backdrop system that takes a sheet of canvas and imprints a wall and a floor onto it. The baseboard is magnetic to install at location/on location to create the separation of wall and floor. Its for easy transport and for very small shooting environments. Check out Bad Sass backdrops (badsassbackdrops.com). They have a unique idea...I bought a larger BG one for my XMas photos, (sans floor and baseboard) the quality 0f the printed canvas is amazing and it allows for a near to BG subject, ergo great use for tight spaces...

That is 100% better, I'm sure 99% of Moms would approve, the other 1% you want to stay away from anyway.

I'm afraid it still does nothing for me. The fact that green is my least favourite colour doesn't help, but it just isn't an appealing colour in my view - you don't often see babies dressed in green clothes and I doubt this is coincidence! One of the things that bothers me most is that the background isn't the one that the image was shot with. Why put in a false one in the first place? Unsuitable venue? If so, why not just shoot somewhere else or use a backdrop so the lighting is uniform and the baby doesn't look like he has been photoshopped in.

It's a christmas photo, green and red make sense. Not too many Moms I know would like kids in black for and xmas photo. I think you're perfect for the market you are going for. Moms will not care about a fake background, as long as their friends tell them how cute their little baby is that is all they care about.

You all are just a bunch of background haterzz.lol

Here is the original sooc. Plain and boring.

I wanted to jazz it up a bit. I have other vinyl backdrops but I didn't have anything that matched.
