Traveling ideas

My wife and I will be traveling soon. Would like to take a couple umbrellas and small tripods with us for some portrait work, but since we are flying we may not get all that in a checked bag. What are some good alternatives to use with speedlights, if any? Have seen all kinds of configurations and products that mimic shooting thru umbrellas, soft boxes etc.


Suggestions?

I have one of these...it disassembles and folds down pretty flat.

But yes, a simple reflector/diffuser panel might be the easiest thing to pack.
