Can others edit my Photos
Photos OK to edit

Taking my 1st semester of photography at my local CC so Im a huge noob at this please critique my work.

It's a little hard to give really good critique without the EXIF data, but in general, a few thoughts: Exposure is good; maybe a little over, but not bad. Lighting is a bit on the flat side. There's rather more brush on the RH side than helps the image,a nd the background is too close, too busy, and too sharply focused for my taste. Using a longer focal-length/larger aperture and putting more distance between the subject and the background would have made for a stronger image IMO. Is there a reason you chose to have the subject looking out of the image frame right?

its not a bad photo! somethings i'd recommend trying are mess with the shadow and highlights (add a lil more feel to it, bring the highlights down a bit), maybe crop it a bit (for better composition), and next time i'd work on the DOF just to make it pop more.

I think this is the data you asked about
1/10, ƒ/5.6, ISO-100, 34 mm

I have not touched the pic in photoshop yet. Semester just started and we are just getting into that.

Took afew pic of him looking towards the camera and really didnt like it that much so I just had him turn his head and I thought it turned out better, but hey Im a novice.

The lens that I have both came with the camera (t3i) are 18-55 and 55-250.

I think gray winter light and nearly leafless brush make for undersaturated colors, and the blue in the shirt wouldn't much be missed since it has a bold pattern.

this, to me, is a prime candidate for a good b&w conversion.

This kind of just looks like a regular snapshot. As far as that goes, it's fine: good exposure, nice even overcast lighting. I think you could do a lot with this in post-processing to make it more evocative. The setting reminds me a bit of Annie Leibovitz's Disney series.

I wonder if you might've been able to use the background to frame the face a bit more clearly. As it is, it's just a tangle of branches. I think the viewer's eye could be drawn more effectively to the subject if there was a bright clearing behind the head, or dark leaves around the face, or lines from the trees pointing in toward the subject.
