Can others edit my Photos
Photos OK to edit
Sup guys, FINALLY got to go out with my Sigma 10/20 (f.4 not the new f/3.5) since I got it for Christmas. I'm posting a lot of images, and I know it's hard to get CC on a lot of images, but this is mostly a "HEY LOOK AT THESE PICS I TOOK!!". If you feel like singling out an image or so to CC, go for it, I'm always up to learn.

Overall impressions of the Sigma, definitely not as sharp as I'd really like, but the perspective is hard to get elsewhere for the price ($435). I could be nitpicking b/c I mostly shot with my 35mm 1.8 all the time and it's hard to beat that sharpness , so maybe I was expecting too much. I did a lot of sharpening in post (with a High Pass Sharpening Action -- changed opacity of layer to minimize over sharpening) Anyways, on with the show.

3. Blown out sky :( ... kinda sucks, bc I liked this shot. Hard to get pics downtown w/o people in them, due to it being so touristy.

4. This is merely a "Look how WIDE I can shoot" shot lol.

If you made it this far ... Thank you for looking, hope you enjoyed them ;)

I want a wide angle lens sooo bad! I like #3 the best, the way the lens makes buildings look like that is really cool.

Great use of a super-wide, especially #4, #5, #2...

I like how those photos include some foreground elements to give extra depth.

Very cool. I love super wide shots. #2 and 3 are my faves. You can't worry too much about the blown out sky. It'd be hard not to have it without doing HDR, which can be much uglier than a blown out sky.

Sobolik. I don't mean to be rude at all, but I've noticed that often when you comment on pictures (at least recently) you have a thumbnail of the picture attached in your post. When I click on them I get to this page: 4soboliks's photos and albums on webshots

It gives the allusion that the pictures are yours, since there is no mention of the other forum member's names where they belong.

Oh yeah, and Geaux, I'm jealous of the lens. I actually like the distortion that an extremely wide angle lens can produce, like in #1, however I think it should be leveled so that the building is leaning symmetrically on both sides.

Well it would stand to reason that if I must sign up for Web Shots or similar to host stuff for free then it would probably say something like sobolik and not aprhockey

I have noticed that every amateur thinks they have the worlds greatest photo and must plaster it with a water mark so no one steals their priceless work. I more or less laugh at this since a study of what sells and for how much reveals that this is worth chuckling about.

I really have no interest at all in proclaiming that a photo I edit photo belongs to some code name person that exists only on this forum. No one has a clue who the person is behind the code name nor do 99.99% of the planets people care who is behind the code name. My intention is to somehow edit and post suggestions for improvement on photos that request/imply request for ideas to improve.

If you actually think that I am stealing these photos for my gain then I offer a roaring laugh in response.

If you think that you need to prevent me from copying and reposting a photo requesting edited critique then by all means petition the entire world of the internet to make that impossible.

Just before I came to this thread I was on a thread where the OP posted several shots for critique. A responder told the OP if they want critique then they should number each photo. I GUESS THERE IS A CERTAIN SEGMENT OF PARTICIPANTS ON FORUMS THAT FEEL IT IS THEIR PLACE TO BE THE POSTING POLICE AND TELL OTHERS HOW TO DO EVERYTHING

I don't take your comments as rude. I take them as severely misguided interpretation of what is going on. Kind of like a guest using the hosts scissors to cut a thread off a garment. The "forum police" types upon seeing it question whether that person has stolen or is in the act of stealing the hosts scissors. Severely misguided interpretation of what is going on.

I would be 10 million times less worried about anyone stealing photos from this forum and claiming it as their own. And 10 times more concerned about taking a photo that is actually good enough for someone to want.

OMG. I really cannot comprehend how/why this is allowed to continue. I really can't.

I liked your test shots. I haven't used my Sigma in a while, I didn't get the impression that it wasn't sharp but I will take a second look with your comments in mind next time I do.

WHOA, drama in my thread and I'm not erose or er111a? Awesome! I feel part of the family now lol.

Thanks for all your comments/critiques. And sobolik, thanks for the edits, but I think the church one turned out kind of wonky looking.

As I am from Louisiana and know where you took the pics I love them !! I think I am gonna get myself a wide angle lens also because I love the look and feel it gives

ps For all you that think some kind of plagiarist crime is taking place. Simply link to the "stolen" edited photos on my hosts site and leave a comment. You can rip me to no end, call me names and whatever turns you on. No will will really care. The only people that really care to see these shots are the people on this forum. So make yourselves look like what ever you want. But please do leave your name and give credit where credit is due. At least be consistent with the accreditation ideals. That way when an occasional non forum web searcher who sees the photo they can laugh? agree? at/with you by name.

For the geniuses that think the rest of the world is just waiting to steal or pay me handsomely for the edited shots posted on my hosts site - DUH they would just "steal" them the same way I "stole" them. I'm sure there are a multitude of crooks haunting this forum to steal beginners flawed and messed up photos.

Yeah, I just do a quick edit to get an idea across. Some work, some don't and some take more time.
