Well you've kept one of the golden rules of cutting on a joint - though I'm not sure if cutting at the neck is generally allowed with the groom - and you've sliced the top of their heads off the other two in the shot.

Well, I sure hope you told that video camera owner that he or she made a HUGE mistake and a fundamentals error in camera handling!!! See all that center column extension??? That is BAD! bad,bad,bad, bad! I do hope that you pointed out that the proper way to set up for that is to raise the entire leg set's height, and use as little center column extension as is possible! ;-)

Well simple really, first ask the preacher to pause the wedding. Walk forward, grab the tripod/camera in front of you, hold it aloft and ask who it belongs too - when they step forward, beat them to death with it.

Then give the preacher the thumbs up, head back to your camera and go on with the wedding as if nothing happened.

I mean seriously, not sure why that's even a question really.. lol

Dont just judge people. Sometimes the bride asks them to videotape the ceremony because they want videos but dont want to spend the money for videographer. It has happened to me twice.

But the video camera is pointed towards the audience. The BG is just behind it.
So they're video taping the walk up to the alter and then the audience.

First thing I thought is, surely bride and groom asked someone to video for them. If I noticed that I would communicate with camera owner about a better placement. I'm sure you saw them set it up?

Sorry guys, long night.

I did nothing. Heres why.

The video was not a hired person. It was a "Guest", hence the word guest in my title. It was a cousin-zillas son or something. Anyways, they were not asked to take video, hence they were a guest, if they were asked. Then to me thats not a guest, well it is, but its not. Because your there for a reason. Maybe not? Idk.

I always ask the bride and groom if there will be other photographers or video people there so I know right off the bat what I'm dealing with. 9/10 times I'm the only one. And then more often than not I'll run into the aunt or uncle who bought a dslr and shadow you everywhere.

Well either way, they weren't hired, told to, anything by the bride and groom. So heres what I did.

I wanted the long shot with my 70-200, obviously that was out of the question. So I threw on my 24-70 and got front row smack down in front of the camera. Well, 10 feet in front of it, but I did it on purpose. But I doubt I still blocked the view, it was more of a message to him, that I can go anywhere I wanted and he couldn't. Not even 2 minutes later the guy moved his camera to the far back side.

I then walked back, grabbed my 70-200 and got my shot. No words were said, no one noticed anything. Body language was all that was needed, I got all the shots I wanted and I needed the 24-70 shots anyways (it was just sooner than I wanted).
