What do you all think about this Photo..Girl in Thought

She's a pretty model but the bright lighting effect has become the subject, not her. She should be why you're taking her picture. To show her off not how clever you are as a photographer. Her looking out of the frame (at what?) is accentuated by all that empty space on the right. Put her more in the middle. She looks kind of sad and distracted. Of course that might be what you're looking for. The bracelet draws my eye away from her as well. I don't see any catchlights which would brighten her eyes. Try some other shots and post them. I'd really like to see how pretty she is.

Very nice overall. The odd shape under her wrist, her yellow bracelet, and the shadow on the wall are distracting.

Thanks for the input. believe it or not thats not a shadow that is another person sitting next to her that was cropped out. This was at a birthday party and just before they were going to sing happy birthday I took a few pictures to get my settings correct. I happen to point the camera her direction and snapped a few. We were under a porch and the light from behind was pretty intense as it was about 11:30-12 ish…So light was really blown out. The box under her wrist as a box of plastic forks hehehe.

When I was going through my photos in light room there was just something about this one that I liked. It was not an intention pose or look it was real life moment. Plus she is my daughter so anything she does I love!!!! well almost anything hahahaha.

Anywho I was playing around in light room trying see if I could recover the photo as a keeper.

Well if you love it, and it has sentimental value, its a definite keeper, regardless of critique or others thoughts. That's really all that matters in the end.

I see why you wanted to save it. I think you did remarkably well.

The original photo with the juxtaposition is extremely interesting - if rendered properly. I think it does lend itself nicely to high key, but this does go beyond high key.

Cropped, it offers less to talk about. The juxtaposition though offers a lot of ambiguity and mystery that elevates the image significantly.

I think it's a great image and definitely worth trying to recover (uncropped!), and I do think there is detail there to work with. Do you have a RAW file?
