What exactly fits on Nex and 4/3?!

I know there are adapters to fit some lenses, but sometimes I'm on ebay and it says it can be adapted and I'm thinking "really? that?" So what lenses can be adapted to these systems?

Nex has a different mount than 4/3.

If you ever have a question just google the lens mount to 4/3 or whatever and see if an adapter pops up. I have an adapter for the original Oly range finder lenses to my 4/3 OM-D. They make ones for Lieca, Minolta, Nikon, older Canons, and more.

nearly everything *can* be mounted on a 4/3 or NEX. The only thing that would prevent a lens from fitting onto a camera is if it's flange distance is too long. Because you can always add distance, having a few millimeters from the flange to the sensor permits virtually any lens to fit, provided that you have an adapter available.

If the flange distance is too long you can still focus at close range, provided that the working distance is greater than zero, however, you will not be able to focus at some distance and never at infinity. Effectively the camera would become an extension tube in this configuration.

But yes, because all film cameras I can think of had flange distances far more than NEX or 4/3, you will be able to use just about any lens. It's just a matter of having an adapter.

Unless you're using older lenses with aperture rings.

huh? no. you still don't have auto-aperture. you can adjust it naturally, but it's not going to stop down with shutter actuation.

I know you can set the aperture with EOS lenses though. It does require two cameras unfortunately. Something about setting it on the Canon DSLR and using the aperture button then removing it and putting it on the 4/3 camera. It would be easier to buy an M if it didn't suck so bad. Maybe in the future I'll sell all my oly stuff and move to the new Canon mirrorless.

Though, at least on NEX there are full AF/AE adapters for EOS. They cost 250+ and I have no idea f they're reliable enough to justify the cost.

Nex use an E-mount. There are many adaptors that can be used as well. So you would want something to E-mount adaptor.
