What's new

What kind of camera straps do you guys like.

get with the 1890s, man.
Just like nobody today glues intel processors to their clothes. :meh:

I like the brown one that they have in some of the images in that same listing though - like the guy in san francisco is wearing.

Watch, someone does it at this year's Fashion Week. And I'll miss it because I don't pay attention to fashion.

Steampunk is just applying Victorian style to modern devices. Yes, if taken literally, by getting with the 1890s, we'd give up everything but indoor plumbing. That's true. It's just the style or an adaptation thereof.

That's the one I have my eye on. Not sure if I want a brown strap or some other color, but the ridiculously long one would be perfect. I have a ludicrously long one for my 1600f and love it, but that's a proprietary mount, of course. God forbid it fit ANYTHING else.

My old tripod's quick release plate and a RC radio strap ...

The Clik Elite wrist strap is my favorite. It's durable, breathes well, and only costs $12. I use a 750g lens often with no concerns. Very inconspicuous if you're into candid photography.

Ive always found the stock canon ones fine, one of my film boodies has been carrying around lenses nearly that heavy for the best part of 30 years,,,
I do somedays feel that aftermarket straps are a little like UV filters in this regards - slightly pointless.

I can't agree with you. For only $1 more you get:

1. A quarter inch of padding. Just thick enough to greatly dampen the load while not hindering any movement or flexibility.
2. A wider wrist to even better distribute the weight. When I'm texting or in my lazy moments and let my camera flail for a minute I hardly notice a difference.
3. Breathable mesh. I don't know about you but not having to deal with sweat and friction in the summer months of Vegas and LA is sweet on its own.
4. A much longer strap for even more flexibility. Way more comfortable for vertical shots too.
5. The lasso design makes it literally impossible to slip off while in use but just as quick to put on and take off.

I'd say the Clik is superior to the Canon in every way aside from the color (I prefer the black). For $1 more.

Well really most any camera strap will work fine with a smaller, lightweight lens. But if you've got a heavy lens or two spend the extra money and get a black rapid. It took me a while to convince myself to drop $70 on a RS=5 cargo, I have to be honest when I first looked at them I thought that was a pretty outrageous sum for a strap - but I bought one and I can tell you after using it I've never regretted it. Probably the best $70 bucks I ever spent on a camera accessory.

I almost regret coming to this forum. I've learned so many things to spend money on in the past month or so.

Sigh.

... neck strap which I don't really care for. What kind do you guys use and where did you get it from.

I prefer an over the shoulder camera holder like the Joby, it can be bought from any retailer.

Going to be getting a BlackRapid Sport over the shoulder and mount it to the tripod collar to support the lens weight. I am using the neck strap for now. It will be nice to get 6 lbs off the neck and no more strap getting in the way of the viewfinder.

another vote for black rapid. I have the women's one and love it!

I love my Carry Speed strap. It is similar to the Black Rapid, but the plate that attaches to the camera bottom does not block the tripod socket. Also, it has an extra little strap attached which goes from the camera to a non-opening metal part on the strap, and provides a little peace of mind for paranoid (or realistic) photographers who worry about the camera coming detached from the attachment plate. I've had mine for a couple of years, and it shows no wear. It is also very adjustable and comfortable. Does anyone else use Carry Speed?

The wise not the paranoid, been using a Joby strap for 6-7 months and the screw often comes loose from the tripod foot on my 300mm f/4, Joby now has a safety cord that attaches to the camera on their shoulder straps.
