What kind of camera straps do you guys like.

Okay, stupid question probably but I'll ask anyway. Does any of you use a shoulder strap while carrying your backpack (with the rest of your gear in it)? I'm guessing it would be rather uncomfortable with two pads on the shoulder.

I'm looking for a strap that would allow me to carry the camera all day without having it banging on my chest while still carrying my backpack.

I do! I have the Op/tech strap for my camera, on a shoulder sling, and then I wear my backpack over it. I'm usually hauling two kids (2 and 4) around with me, and they need stuff like drinks and snacks and spare pants and diapers and wipes, which fits nicely in the camera backpack cargo section. I try not to pack it too heavy and I don't find the straps bothering me. You get a little less range of motion in the Optech strap this way, but I've got a nice little rigging system with the strap and a couple of extenders that it works really really well.

I like to use wrist straps. I don't use multiple bodies though.

I have an op tech sling strap and a Black Rapid R5 (I think) sling strap. Personally I like the op tech better. Why? The strap doesn't ever move unlike the Black Rapid strap.

What do you mean exactly by "less range of motion"?
Would you mind posting a picture of your straps?

The Optech strap has sliders on it so that you can pull your camera up to your eye without the strap sliding around your body (I believe they have a video on their website to demonstrate it - Jacaranda linked to their website a couple pages back). Since I'm wearing a backpack, the right arm of the backpack overlaps the strap a bit. I put an extender on the clasp that links to the slider - so that when the slider stops at my backpack shoulder strap, the extender is long enough that I can get the camera to my eye without an issue. It gives a bit more dangle at my hip that way, but I haven't had an issue with that either (except the two year old consistently whacks her head on my lens).

I'll try to remember to take a picture of myself geared up. LOL. I'm also a fat chick, so a skinny person may have more strap interference. Ha.

BosStrap, check it out on B&H. Comfortable, cheap, and I use it with a backpack all the time. I've forgotten a few times that I had a camera strapped to my neck, and it is easily usable with a backpack!

Domke gripper. Adorama.com is where i got mine.

I am out in the bush all the time and really love the cotton carrier. To much bigger lens than my 300 would be annoying though.

I use Op/Tech Pro straps on cameras and most bags. They sure seem superior to me (more comfortable, and don't slip as much).

I just ordered an Op/Tech system after reading stuff here and also an Op/Tech adaptor for my Black Rapid so I can mount it on the side and not on the bottom which makes me a little nervous.
