Point is... not ALL of her pictures are going to be... or HAVE to be of professional grade...

IT'S MOTHER TRUCKIN' FACEBOOK YO! :lmao:

Again, it has nothing to do with having a professional grade picture, it has to do with advising someone when their picture is making them look wierd. As my above example with the nipple slip, or someone having a booger on their face, or not realizing that a tree they are standing next to has a branch that makes them look like they have a penis sticking out of their pelvis etc etc etc. Is this that hard to comprehend? I figured I would doing someone, that I considered myself on friendly terms with, a favor by telling them something that their other friends probably didn't have the guts to do.

My FB profile pic is me passed out drunk with a golden retriever.

So yeah, you even bringing it up was sort of pointless. No harm no foul though, she definitely has some issues if she flipped out that easily.
Yeah, thats the other point. If she said, I don't care or "I think it looks great and I don't see it" then great. I mean I didn't expect such a harmless thing to blow up into her turning into a basketcase.

How old are you 13 ? Facebook is for retards and loosers
They probably should have called it gsgarybook.com then. What does my age matter? Are you prohibited to be around minors in the UK?

You obviously questioned yourself in sending it, or you would not have asked her if it was ok. FB isnt a photo forum...people dont understand that you may be trying to educate them on the wide angle lens and distorting her face or body. She knows she doesn't look "stumpy"in real life. Think about it, if you fixed cars for a living, and had a profile picture of you holding a wratchet by the wrong end, what would you think if someone educated you on how to correctly hold the wratchet, and explained how to use it? Woudn't you say, I know how to hold a damn wratchet, it a profile picture you idiot??
Thats a bad metaphor, no offense :) . I am not telling her how to take a picture and she is not a photographer, so it doesn't really make sense. It is no difference than her having a nip slip and not realizing it and me being the one to say "uhh your boobs hanging out" . Hey if she WANTS her boobs hanging out, then great, leave it, but am I really a bad guy for trying to help someone out? Here is a better one. If she sold cars for a living and posted a picture of one she was selling and the photo had issues ( like lets say the picture made the car look odd due to the angle or focal length, or their was a big blotch from shooting into the sun ) would I be wrong to let the person know what they could do to improve it, or that it wasn't doing them any favors in the car selling department?

OMFG, see your critiquing my metaphor, and I didnt ask you to! YES you would be wrong again! No one asked for your C&C of their picture! Its Face Book!

Unless their friends are photographers, they probably would have never noticed. Even then...

Shes dumb. All i can really say.
Im 17, and im quite addicted to facebook.
We all have those friends that we like to kinda creep their page, but nothing is ever said to each other. My moto is, on facebook if you dont plan on saying it to their face. Dont say it at all.
My previous facebook profile picture is my friends divorced mom feeding me a chocolate covered strawberry...now thats not very professional is it? Hahahah

I'm confused. Did you want other people's opinions, or argue how you absolutely don't agree with those opinions?

Dear Model Friend. I am a (professional) photographer, and I have looked at many of the photos in your profile. There are some beautiful shots in there. But I have to admit that I am curoius why you chose the one you did for your profile picture? Did it appeal to you in a way you can explaint so that I better understand the needs of models? Thanks for taking the time to answer my post. OP.

I was busting your stones, hence the smiley face, ease up a bit. Actually they DID ask for the critique. My first message to them said that I had a critique on something that was bugging me with their pic, would they like to hear it? They told me to tell them it. They could have easily said at that point, no I don't care I know my pics are crappy, its just facebook. They KNOW I am a photographer, they KNOW I am going to look at the pic differently than their Auntie Ethel would. lol

I argue when I don't think people get it. We keep referring to "its just facebook man" but the point of my letting her know the issue is beyond FACEBOOK. If I was a professional photographer posting my pics on facebook with a fairly lengthy friends list, it still would not be good to give myself bad publicity by posting garbage. Now there is not some rule somewhere that says I have to ALWAYS post good pictures, but I would respect someone for saying (in a private and polite manner, assuming that they were a photographer and would know about such things ) that the photo has some issues that do not reflect my typical level of work. Thats in a nutshell what was said. "Hey you are beautiful, but that pic doesn't do you justice based on the wierd angle and the distortion that it is causing" I get that its facebook, but should the quote I just stated cause someone who should be able to handle direction and critique ( a working model mind you ) to blow a gasket? Its absurd. The fact that its Facebook should not have any relevance. I think the chicks crazier than a bag of dope...lol

Agreed. He keeps saying *we* don't get it... but I think *he* doesn't get it.

Again I say... "It's Facebook dude."

I know plenty of *GOOD* professional photographers who post "garbage" on their personal profiles... snapshots of when they were with family/friends, at parties, just hanging out.... cellphone shots of somewhere they were... not EVERYTHING has to be of professional grade on their *PERSONAL* Facebook profile. If that's how you want to run yours, more power to you, but I'm fairly certain their family and friends are smart enough to distinguish between their actual photographic work, and simple documentation of them having a good time on their off time.

Now their Facebook business fan page... *THAT* has nothing but professional images on it... because the *purpose* of that page *is* to promote themselves as a photographer.

Most photographers I know use their personal pages to promote themselves as a friend, family member, way to connect with people they know and *occasionally* show of their talents. When they hand out business cards, it's not "www.facebook.com/mypersonalpage" written on it. It's a professional website and sometimes "Like me at www.facebook.com/businessfanpage".

You're looking for validation that what you did was right... or else you wouldn't be fighting so hard against everyone telling you "It's just Facebook".

Well, guess what? It *is*, just. Facebook.

This thread is just evil.......lol I want to see the picture!!

Can I also say that it sucks that the op deleted the first post....lol

Don't take this the wrong way, but that mail is creepy, and your avatar adds to the creepyness ;) ;):lmao:

For the love of god I hope you don't see her out in public when her hair is frizzy...

:)
Sorry but I would be SUPER pissed too if someone said what you said to her. She doesn't understand C&C like you do... Here is one of my best friends, she is a model and this is one of her profile pictures.
