The Canon Powershot SX60 HS would be a better option than the SX50 since it is newer and more comparable to the Nikon Coolpix P610.

But in terms IQ from these cameras, the Canon would probably give you better image quality. But they are probably pretty close to the same. So either one, you'd probably be happy with.

If you took a photo of the same scene with each camera it's unlikely you would see any difference between the 2 photos.
