Which camera might be best for me?

Thanks for the advice everyone. From where I am right now, I think we are leaning toward the D3200. The guided mode seems like it has something to offer, if not to me, but to my wife as well. The flip out screen is nice on the D5200, but it seemed like that was the only thing that I would use/understand as a new user. That doesn't justify the price difference to me, especially since I would lose the guide mode as well. This will allow me to save a little money that I could possibly try to find a weekend class or workshop for photography.

The D3200 is a good camera, I am sure you will enjoy it.

As for taking night courses to learn the basics of photography.
I advice is try youtube first, I am sure you will find it useful and save the money and time.
Few years ago I took a 3 month basic photography course, I found it only partially helpful and then I watches some clips on youtube and it was much more helpful.

It looks like I'll be able to find a bundle on black friday for $500 that will also come with a 18-200mm lens, memory card and bag. I think we're going to go with this over 415 for a used, and not having the extra lens.

While that is absolutely a great deal, I think we are going with the D3200. I like that we will not need to spend our entire christmas budget on a good camera.

I don't see myself getting into paintball photography. I enjoy playing too much, and get rather bored if i'm watching without coaching. But I'm sure things can change. And i'm sure it's a good opportunity to get photog experience.

Seriously though I think you'll be very happy with your choice, the D3200 is a very capable camera and it should suit your needs for years to come. Nice part about DSLR's, if you ever get to the point where you really think you need to upgrade you can always purchase another body and sell the one you have.
