Who see's the beauty in Photography?

The general (non-photographer) public can appreciate the beauty of a photo. A trained photographer can also appreciate the craftsmanship (or criticize the lack thereof).

On the flip side, the general public may not, by and large, think a particular work is beautiful whereas someone with more photographic skill/talent/prowess may appreciate the beauty (or lack of beauty) of a photo entirely on its technical merit. (See the latest issue of COLOR magazine for many examples of that.)

To me, the art of photography lies in the artist's ability to not only see, but capture beauty in the modern immediacy of our everyday lives - whether inspiration lives in the splendour of a hardy flower thriving in winter or in the spontaneity that can define, at any given moment, our existence. Photography is, in essence, the art of apprecation. And so, I bid you all welcome - it is my hope that, in the coming years, some of you may come to appreciate the colours and shades of my life as those of your very own. Enjoy
