I like Willets they are noisy wading birds but are always really shy. I saw this one and got in a prone position on an old wooden jetty thing. I was shooting with my 2x still working on the poor man's 600. This was the first time I was actually able to get some feather detail... Anyways I was just happily shooting along and then I noticed something strange in the background...

4 At first I thought it was some trash on the beach with the bright white plastic ruining my shot. Turned out to be a pait of mating Horseshoe crabs that were actually tagged at somepoint by the fish and wildlife people. They said it was very rare to see a pair with tags.. At full resolution I could easily read the tag number on the left crab but the other crab had some sand on the marker.. Pretty freaking strange...
