What's new

(yawn) Nikon's new products announcement

You guys do realize that bottom end sales usually drive R&D work at the top end.. right? The success of this new mirror less could only be a good thing.

Any other snarky remarks? Maybe you would like to spend some time rooting through some more of my old posts. There's some 6,000 of them. Should keep you busy for quite a bit.

Don't need to go dig up your old posts to make snarky comments...isn't it about time you went out and took your own profile picture instead of stealing someone else's work?:lmao:

What, you don't like my picture of me in my younger starfleet days?

BTW Manny, I've got +10K posts I'd like to throw into that hat. :biglaugh:

God that's just scary.

Totally, totally wrong with relation to the Nikon company. Not even close. Nikon's R&D is targeted now, at the TOP-level cameras and the TOP-level lenses, and migrates its way downward. Nikon has worked that way since the 1940's, through the 1950's, the 1960's, the 1970's, the 1980's, the 1990's, the early 2000's, and also the same way in this decade. You obviously do not know much about how Nikon has worked for the last 50 years. But that doesn't stop you from spouting off ill-informed B.S.. Nikon's biggest technological innovations have ALWAYS been in their flagship model cameras and lenses, which after a certain period of time, are migrated DOWNWARD TO THE MIDDLE and LOWER-end products.

Derrel, I'm almost positive that he meant the revenue brought in from sales of this camera will FUND the research and development of the flagship cameras, not that the technology will be implemented into the cameras.

LOL, you know that Derrel is a former Nikon CEO right? In the 70s, 80s and 90s, He took all the research and engineering operations under control from his unfinished basement. That why he knows how Nikon does everything.

Yes... Revenue... Markw has good comprehension.

In almost technology based product, the sale of top end product almost always ends in either a break even or loss situation. The value is not in profit but presence in the market and development of new technologies to trickle down. Bleeding edge technology is that expensive... retooling a manufacturing floor is that expensive.

Its the sales of the bottom end that drive R&D work at the top.

Some investors (I suck at it) look at the evolution of top end products to determine the outlook and health of a particular company. Apple for example, looks good because their entire product line is considered "high end" with prices to match BUT with sales figures as proof.

In my years, I'm neither the smartest nor the richest nor the most successful. But one thing everyone has taught me over and over again.... spend more time listening, observing and learning.. more so than talking.

VHAAAT? He was? :O

lol..

Derrel is so itching to jump down my throat that it has clouded his judgement. That's simply what ghache was pointing out.

What does that tell you when thanks is received for such ill-attitude responses? (rhetorical)

I yawned because I'm looking for the D700 replacement

It seems like a neat camera, but I think a lot of people here on the forums are more interested in DSLRs generally... so it's not going to appeal to us too much. I, too, am waiting a D700 replacement... and NOT a D700S. I want a D800.

So yeah...

zzz...

I wouldn't mind a D700s as long as it has a D3S sensor in it.

lol..

LOL. it has been proven many times that derrel was a clown. We dont need to say anything else.

Is it possible that Nikon increase the sensor size without changing the Nikon 1 Lens system?
