I am wanting to purchase a UV filter to protect my 50mm canon lens, what size would I need?

The filter sizes are confusing me!

    Thanks so much!

well, is it the 500mm f/1, 1.2, 1.4, or 1.8? I think the 1/4 and 1.2's have larger filter sizes

filter size is usually marked on the lens itself.

Its the 50mm f/1.8 II. Thats what the ad said anyways.
I tried to look on the canon website to see if they had a chart or something but I couldnt find anything.
