I went out this evening to try out my Magbeam flash extender with my Nikon 200-400mm f4 lens. Not a great picture but good practice. The deer was about 75ft away

I'd say the flash works! Your tests are better than my keepers. :aiwebs_016::encouragement:

It's a nice pic and it seems to have exceeded your expectations because it lit up everything behind him as well. I'd say mission accomplished and good work.
I'm probably preaching to the choir when I say this but if I know something is pretty far out, close to the point of infinity in the focus I'll take the guess work out and just set the focus to the infinity mark and pray. 75 ft. may not qualify for that I realize but maybe it will come in handy for someone reading this. Seems to work pretty well for me.

Interesting. Seen a number of these products. That one looks well thought out.

I have a Rogue Safari flash extender. Found it in a thrift store for 5.99? Did a few tests and it's definitely brighter. Just need to bring it with me. There have been a few times it may have helped.

Man, that's one cool looking night pic and you got good real focus with the flashlight. I'm going to have to go down to the marsh at night and see what I can capture. Maybe some gators with glowing green eyes. Maybe I'll take the AR15 with me, just in case.
