This first one, was done by holding the lens and twisting the camera whilst the picture was being taken:

It was basically some brown, vertical branches. I can't remember exactly what I did in photoshop, but I think I basically made the colours "pop" more by messing with the levels and brightness/contrast. I may have put some sort of filter on it too to give it the rich orangey-brown colour.

This second one was basically some brown plant against a blue sky. I just altered the levels here to get a really strong contrast between the brown plant and the blue sky. I'm still experimenting because I think sometimes I over adjust the levels. Does anyone think I've made this one "pop" a little too much? Looking back on it (I did the editing last night) I think maybe I've made the plant look a little "radioactive", lol!

Any comments and criticism is greatly appreciated :D

Thanks for looking!

The first one is obviously awesome...the second one looks fine for contrast but the composition isn't there...but this is an experiment...so keep going for it...cool photos...thank you for sharing...

Thanks for the feedback! I really appreciate it.

Any ideas on how I could compose the second one better? I did crop it from a larger shot so I could go back and change things. I tried to get the foreground stem intersecting the first vertical line a third of the way in (sorry if I don't explain myself well! I'm trying to talk about the rule of thirds!). If I moved it anywhere else, the rest of the picture looked too empty. Maybe it's just not possible to get a well composed shot because of the placement of the stems.

I find the first one really interesting (which is good) and I like the colour spectrum.

I am not so keen on the second photo - perhaps it is in comparison to the first photo. I think it might have worked better if you had zoomed in closer. I think the partial stem on the left is distracting and the two stems would have worked better.

You are experimenting - which is good

The first image is amazing. Tone down the saturation a bit and you would have a great computer wallpaper.

The second one: my eye immediately goes to the middle one, rather than the intended focal point. Also it strikes me that a square format would really suit the simple presentation of the buds in this image. How about this?

I've pushed the blur on the rear bud just a tad to better suit the composition.

Well...let's see...how can we create a story with just three stems? A lower angle perhaps would tell the story of the three stems being friends and all reaching for the sky...as it is...the photo is too dead-on for that story...

Nice! Great edit! I like how just changing the shape of the picture can help the picture so much! The extra blurring of the rear bud is very effective too!

Thanks!
