I took these below shots of my dog and his favorite toy (Henry)... But then he decided that he didn't want to be in anymore photos and deserted Henry on he couch. I used the flash in one of them.

CC if you would like to...

Models... you just can't work with them! To be frank, these are really snapshots; that's not a bad thing, it just means that you captured a moment in time. A photograph is generally a more planned shot, say having pup positioned so that you could get the shot with a better angle (more dog, less couch). Try to have him look at you, and get yourself on his eye-level when you shoot. Keep at it!!

Every time I try to get him to stay in a certain position, he decides he want to come over at sniff the lens or lick it, so snapshots it will be with my pup.

oh gawd tirediron...really??? I remember that happened to me the last time I ate a can of Alp......ne'er mind...carry on

Black Labs rock! What's its name?

Sweet name! Did you name him that because he's a ruthless killer? Is that why the other dog is on its back? It got "whacked", didn't it? That's why Capone isn't in the second shot, isn't it?

Capone - "This couch is my territory, see? A'int no one gonna take it from me, see? You're gonna get stuffed dog, Jimmy Hoffa style."

Black Labs are great dogs but very difficult to shoot because they're so black. A fair amount of main light and additional lights to scuplt and define the fur is a must IMO.
