What's new

A few shots from Maine this weekend

I don't normally post to threads that are heading for a fight fest, especially when I did not see the photos that were posted for C&C, but after looking at your photos on red bubble, I had to say something. I think you are overreacting to the C&C you received here and should take it as constructive critisim since one of your photos at RB, entitled Water in Maine, that was shot from the dock of a friend's cottage is clearly flawe or else you have some really odd lakes in Maine. I am willing to overlook a slighty askew horizon at times, but I have never seen a lake that has a concave center. I'm sorry, but I do feel you need to take the C&C with a slightly better approach.:er:

Wow, just wow Ceejtank.

Miss Cream took the time to look at your thread and comment. She didn't put you down. She gave you a pointer. She even said it with little smiley faces. You came back with a personal attack about her avatar. At this point, I personally would have ripped you a new one, but Miss Cream was cool about it and stayed the course trying to help you. She was NEVER impolite or less than professional or helpful to you.

You removed the photos you posted because I guess you simply couldn't take all the nice CandC. After all, you have sold 13 photos or some such B.S. When Forkie called you out on it, you attacked HIM.

Do you understand that you just crapped all over two of the nicest most helpful people on this forum? Do you understand that BOTH of them even bothered to respond to you in the first place in order to help you grow?

If you think you know it all, then go sell seminars like so many of the other newbie knowitalls with Rebels.

But please don't insult people who were NICE to you. Believe me, there are plenty of people like me that would have been WAY less kind to you.

I noticed you didn't leave yet.

^ hahaha willis. I think that either your tripod or whatever your using that is telling you its straight is off because im pretty sure you cant have a lake that is at an angle, or it would be called a river. Even a dam wouldnt make it tilted, unless it somehow can defy gravity...? These people have all tried to help you, if it was my pictures, I would have accepted the comments and maybe tried to fix it, not taking what they say as if they are saying your the worst photographer in the world and should never take pictures again. Thats how you have been acting. I think you need to go back and look at what they said and think, were they being mean or helpful? If I were you I would be happy to get C&C.

Wow indeed. We get this from time to time here at the forum, Ceejtank. You come on here expecting everyone to love your photos. Instead of coming to the forum for honest help ( whether you agree with them or not, is irrelevant) you come here for validation that you are great. You come here looking to inflate your ego and get a pat on the back. Unfortunately, that is not how it works here.

You have complained about this forum on multiple threads after throwing what can only be labeled as a childish temper tantrum, so I suggest that you either grow a thicker skin, or hit the road. Nobody here NEEDS to argue with you over amateur mistakes. We do it because at one point we all received the same sort of help from someone better than us. Does this mean that every opinion is from someone better than you or that every opinion is the only one? Not at all, but you look like an ungrateful ass when you constantly refute everyone. We don't need excuses.

At the end of the day, if you like a shot, then keep it. It doesn't hurt us one bit, it only hurts you. You can brag about selling photos all day long. Good for you. There are people on here that make a living selling quality photos. When you can afford a mortgage payment, a studio payment, insurance payment, employee payment, equipment costs, groceries, utilities and spending money from your piddly crap sales, then you can start refuting people based on your "SALES".

I live in Maine and I can't see any photos :(

I deleted them. I don't think I'll be submitting any more pics on this site.

Interesting.. because the bubble level on my tripod that I used to take all the images was centered. Very weird. Maybe that's wrong too.

Horizons in pictures should be and look straight, your's did not look straight, at all. You should straighten it in post and the picture would be much more visually pleasing.

Mine didn't look straight to you, to the bubble level they looked straight, to me and the 17 people who have purchased the picture on my other website, they looked straight to them, or they understand that photography is an art form and not everything has to form into a form of rules. Hence why settings on cameras exist. So you can manipulate them to your liking. I'm not sure how many lakes you have been to, however most of them are not circles, they have ridges, and hills on the banks, and trees that make the horizon lines not straight, they also (as in this case) might be about half a mile wide to your left side, and 3/4
of a mile wide to your right. The bubble level was straight, it was on a tripod.

Hey All, new to the photo forum. just sayin hi. You'll be seeing me post here regularly as I've become more active as a photographer and want more and more and more comments, advice, tips, and talk about photography.

Hope I can add some good advice, tips, and pics of my own as well."

Hmm...thats what you posted when you first joined. After navigating the other threads you've started wherein you've deleted every picture after receiving a critique that you didn't like or agree with it seems to me that you don't want any "advice, tips, and talk about photography". It's been said to you before if you don't want critiques then don't post photos (others have said leave).

I don't think you should leave as you seem passionate about photography from what I could gather, you seem knowledgeable as well, but you certainly don't seem very open to constructive criticism. Contrary to your first post in the welcome thread. So stay and critique other peoples pictures, you might just learn a little something about humility.

There are a lot of photographers on this forum (myself included) who take pictures, put them up for critique, and the gladly take the opinions (the good and the bad) and criticisms of others and try to implement the advice given to them (by both seasoned and "just starting" photographers) in there future work.

Yeah...where are the pics??? Still, even minus the pics, and just based upon the comments posted, I think we've got a candidate for an Ansel Adams-Edie Adams-Addams Family Bunched Up Panties Award, Hissy Fit Division, Hurtful C&C sub-category...

From reading through the thread (along with most if not all of his other threads), he got some very constructive criticism (which he asked for) instead of praise and "oohs and ahhs", threw a hissy and took all his pictures down.
