I like in your new one that your not doing a facebook style self portrait like the old one.

i do think there is too much of the tree in the new one. don't be discouraged from keeping your subject on one side of the frame, just be cautious of how what fills the rest of the frame does to the photo. In this case, it takes over the photo and takes focus away from you (who i'm assuming is the real subject). Also, try to either zoom out or back up the camera a bit more so we can get more of you, instead of the close cropping.
